I just had installed a dedicated incoming fax line to my existing fax machine. What I did was bought a line that's quite inexpensive, but is a local only, and all outgoing calls/faxes get charged(beyond local). Thus what I do is physically unplug the line from the fax line and plug it into my primary line and then fax away.
What I'm looking for is a fax machine that has two lines, but accept faxes on line 2(fax), and then allow me to keep the primary line plugged in and when I send a fax it will automaticall know to send out on line 1. This without intercepting regular calls which come in on line 1.
The savings per month this was are quite a bit, and my fax machine could use an upgrade, would love to find a machine whcih could do this, even more if there is a multi-function machine out there.
Stopped at Staples and Radio Shack, but neither carried it. Radio Shack employee did say the machine did exist, but couldn't tell me where.
Anyone know of a machine like this?
Thanks

Real simple solution.
Sign up for efax.com and receive all the incomeing faxes you want for free. They provide you with a phone number (no pin require) and you receive the faxes as emails. It's great.
The other optioin and probably the cheapest is just buy a second fax machine. You'll have one for incomeing and one for outgoing.

Have you considered desktop faxing instead, or perhaps an account with eFax.com? That and other solutions eliminate the whole issue of phone lines.

Nice ideas, but I'd still like to get a multi-function that would take care fo this.
