Ever thought when rating stuff in iTunes or iPhoto that you'd like Apple to include negative ratings? Like -1 star only play once a year -2 stars never play this -3 don't delete this file but encrypt it beyond recognition so that nobody will ever listen to it, -4 stars sends an e-mail to the artist, and -5 starts actually prevents the birth of an artist? Granted I don't have many CDs with songs that I'd like to give less than no stars... but... there are a few... which begs the question... why don't I just delete em? Answer... I bought the CD so I might as well keep it...

Apple should let you rate songs from 1 to 250 stars.

5 ranks just isn't enough. there is no room for subtlety.

Actually, you can give a song a rating from 0-100, but you need to use something like AppleScript since it isn't possible within iTunes itself. I'm sure it's exceedingly obvious, but

5 stars = 100
4 stars = 80
3 stars = 60
2 stars = 40
1 stars = 20
0 stars = 0

A song with a rating of 99 will only have 4 stars showing in iTunes, but it will be sorted according to the numerical rating.

100 isn't enough. I need at least 175 to make a fair ranking system.

Yeah, you're right 175 is the magic number for really rating a song, true to its' conceivable detail.

I give this thread -1.

But honestly, rather than having songs at minus one, most sane people would just delete the offensive song.
And if it's not worth trashing, it's not really a negative ranking, is it?

And yes, you do need a blog/life.

I use 0 stars as my negative rating. All imported songs get a default rating of 1 star and either go up or down from there. Songs with a 0 rating get deleted.

So far I haven't deleted any songs yet. My 1 & 2 stars that I probably won't listen to again.

Because I called you an ass monkey? Is it because I said ass or monkey? If because I called you an ass... I suppose C.S. Lewis widely regarded as a devote honourable Christian could then not have really been cut out to lead either... since I can point to you parts of his books where he uses such a word. I don't imagine you should have a problem with monkey...
Actually I've had some people say they love the fact that I'm going into a pastoral position because I'm not a fake Christian like some people... I'm actually real about who I am, and I'd sooner walk in the light than under false faces and North American sensibilities.
Fault me if you wish, it only makes me more confident in my calling when fakers like you have a problem with me.

Well, actually, not this thread, really. I'm giving myself a +1 (since that's all this thread is good for).
