I'm in the Palm Beach area of Florida about an hour north of Miami.

Gasoline here is now $2.29 a gallon on average. About how much is where you are?

The cheap stuff is $2.19 here, $2.29 for mid-grade, $2.39 for premium...

Probably 2.20 or so.. dunno, haven't looked in ages, don't really care since it costs almost twice as much in most parts of the world.

I was in Lorain, OH, today, where my brother lives, and 87 octane was around $1.98/gallon. Here in metro Detroit, it runs anywhere from $2.09 to $2.27, depending on the demographics of wealth in the community. I'm a part time merchandising rep, and I put over 500 miles on my car this week, calling on stores in about 20 towns in the area, plus the 350 mile round trip drive to OH today, so I've spent over $70 on gas this week alone.

Around Berkeley, CA it's about 2.20-2.35 for the cheap stuff. I came back from LA (around the Hollywood and San Fernando Valley areas), CA earlier today and down there it's about 2.35-2.45 for the cheap stuff.

There are places in LA where it's topping $3/gal for the expensive grade. This is getting bad, they haven't even made price adjustments for the spring/summer driving season!

I wonder how all those SUV nuts feel now.

It's odd, people were buying them because they thought they were safer in them. I have never seen one in an accident that wasn't upside down. You bump into them and they flip.

I might be exagurating a little, but not much. (I'm not sure of my spelling)

The calculation:
1 gallon => 3,785 Liter * 8,72kr = 33kr => $5.88

Here in London it is about 84p/L for regular and about 88p/L for Premium.

that makes;

1L x 3.785 x 1.9 (exchange rate) x 88p = US$6.33 per gallon!!!! So stop your complainin'!

Okay, so I'll do the cheapest and most expensive ones instead:

Cheapest: Diesel (at KDB) - 7.82 DKr/L * 3.785 = 29.6 DKr = $5.25

Most expensive: 95 Oct Dynamic (Q8) - 9.16 DKr/L * 3.785 = 34.67 DKr = $6.16

I think it's about �1.21/litre for cheap 95 octane. 98 is a bit more. Don't know about diesel right now since I don't drive a diesel myself at the moment. So that's $6,08 per US gallon.

It's still a couple cents less than $2.00/gal here ...

However, I recently read that although this is the highest numerical price ever at US pumps, if you adjust for inflation, the highest price was around 1981 -- it was about $3/gal in 2005 dollars.

The line in blue is gasoline prices in the US, adjusted for overall inflation, 1950 to 2003. You can see that in real terms, gas prices are about as low as they've ever been.

I bought an Suburban last year and yeah, it's costing me $60 to fill up.

Still, I'd buy it all over again because I feel very safe in it. VERY SAFE.

I live in the land of blue-hairs (age 70+ and over) and feel at risk driving next to or near them.

I live in NJ and while we have the highest Insurance costs in the country our Gas/Petrol is the least expensive. It's on average about $1.83 for regular

What's funny, though, is that a lot of people complain (not saying Cody was, I'm just commenting) about the price of a gallon of gas, but they buy bottled water -- bottled water -- for well over twice that. A local donut shop sells a pint (.9 fl. oz.) of Ozarka for $.89, so that's about $7.12 per gallon.

Boy, are our priorities messed up.

The news did a story about bottled water the other day. Cost to make is next to nothing and they are making a killing off it. And most bottled water comes from the same source as your regular drinking water too. While no one has gotten sick from bottled water (YET) its been found the potential is there, its actually about the same risk factor as tap water at least here where our tap water is very safe.

Depends on whether Cipher had already converted his price into US Dollars. If not, then �1.09 is more like $1.82 for him (Australian Dollars). So meh, you're easily beat, Cipher.

I especially like those people who go into a 7Eleven and buy bottled water. 16 DKr for half a litre! That a gallon price of $21.50 - for water! Seriously f*cked up.

Depends on how much ice you put in it.

Most of the drinks I get are 32 ounces loaded with about 20 ounces of ice.

It gets hot in Texas.
