Ok, so I totaled my vehicle. A dumb arse lady ran a red light and I smacked into her going 45 MPH. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt...I was driving a Suburban and she was driving a mini-van...both cars were absolutely totaled.
My question is this:
How long does it take the insurance company to come up with the money to replace my car?
Personal injury...I wasn't hurt too bad, but I have mild to moderate back/ neck pain and I am having bowel movements in excess of 3 times per day. I am seeing a chiropractor who says that all of the issues are accident related. Should I go see a real doctor?
I am not trying to make money off of this, but do you think I should get a lawyer? Should I wait until an offer is made? With the exception of lost wages and rental car costs...should I go after pain and suffering?
I appreciate your 2 cents.

I'm very sorry to hear about your accident. Happy to hear that no one was seriously hurt. I think that you should make an appointment to see your physician. The two symptoms you are describing to be indicative of something, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health. By the same reasoning, you call a lawyer, just to get legal advice. That way your wright s will be protected.

She was insured? If so, then your insurance agent will speak to her, and her agent, and then you should be immediately given the money from your agent while they go after the other company, and if necessary her personally for the money.
My wife was nailed by an illegal alien, no licens, no insurance, car totaled, and we had no recourse except to send the guy to jail... we didn't, he got off scott free.
Call your agent now and find out. You should have your car in the shop within one day, or your agent is not worth his salt. Have the damage apraised by 3 repair shops, and then send them those.

Well, hopefully they are going to total it. The demage was pretty extensive. I just don't want to get into some long battle over value...I want the check and I want to move on. I guess we will see what happens in the next few days.

There is something to be said for state-mandated auto-insurance.
Something isn't right with you, but you seem fortunate that the issues are fairly minor.

haha!!! dude, see a doctor, then hire a lawyer to seek medical damages, especially if the other person was clearly at fault, which it sounds like she was.

See a doctor ASAP. You have experienced a traumatic injury. I'll quickly illustrate for you the stages of impact:
1) Car against other car (or watever)
2) You against interior of car
3) Your internal organs against the structure of your body
#3 often causes the most damage. Get to a doctor, get a full physical. Then go to the chiropractor for physical therapy.

Depends on the insurance company. In BC ours ICBC will usally get you a rental car right away and take a under a month to deal with your claim. Something I should note, for the personal injury money always get as much as you can because you never know what will develope even a year later. And always use a lawyer.

I'm not sure if you have health insurance, I would insist on covering all your expenses (rental car, treatment of all accident-related injuries, legal fees).
Oh, and be careful with insurances.
