he should've put a lens at the focal point so he could focus it on things far away, that would've been a lot more fun.

They made one of these solar death rays on Myth Busters and tried to set a boat on fire. It didn't set it on fire, but it did make it uncomfortably hot.

BTW, I'm trying to figure out what the angry flower is referencing.

Personally, I think it is way too appropriate to complain about. Also, it doesn't require me to scroll on my iBook, so I'm fine with it... but this isn't my forum.

I vote with Angus! Simple punctuation is what you learn in elementary school. I sure hope there aren't too many members of MacNN who are still in early elementary school! English is hard enough without people failing to take the tiny bit of time required to use it somewhat correctly.

Anyway, that Solar Death Ray is cool. Er, I mean hot. I like it. It reminds me of the Perdue engineering profs who decided they wanted to see who could get charcoal to the perfect cooking state the fastest. Using (I'm not making this up!) liquid oxygen, they got the time from lighting the match to perfect temperature down to less than five seconds! They also destroyed many cheap grills (they burned/melted in the process), and had a fabulous, but very dangerous time.
