Tomorrow I'm due for a Sprint phone upgrade and I'm looking for some advice.

My current phone is a dinosaur. People make fun of me because of it.

In my research on new phones, it's kind of overwhelming. However, from what I've gathered it seems I may be able to access the web using my PowerBook and a PCS Vision enabled phone as a wireless modem. I am very inept at the techie side of this kind of stuff, but from what I understand a PCS Vision equipped phone through Sprint can connect via USB to my Titanium PowerBook 667 as a wireless modem. I could then use my PowerBook anywhere my cell phone can go to access the web and check my email from my PowerBook. Is this right? And does anyone here do that? This is very appealing to me. Perhaps somebody can shed more light on this for me.

Aside from being able to use PCS Vision to hook my Mac up to the 'net, I'd like for the phone to have a decent camera.

Other than that, I just need to be able to call people.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks!

be careful, the newnewnewest SPrint phones have that feature disabled. It's technically a cancellable violation of your contract to do that anyway but I and lots of others do it every day without problem. I was all set to buy the new 5600 which has an SD card for video recording, etc, 'til I found out that you cant do high-speed dialup with it.

The Audiovox 6601 is a pretty nifty PocketPC phone if you're into that kinda thing. It also has Bluetooth for networking to yoru Powerbook. Your best bet right now for mobile high-speed is probebly the LG slider phone that has just come out for Sprint. It has built-in Bluetooth and DOES work with dialup networking-type 'Net access. Just get a $20 adapter of your Powerbook doesent have Bluetooth built in already.

PM me if you have questions, also you should really check out the forums at sprintusers.com. About any question you'd have is answered there.
