But don't they pay a "file sharing tax" on media and computers that allow them to participate in p2p trading? The article doesn't mention anything about it, and I wonder if the tax will be removed if these laws get passed...

Yup, but this is just a consideration. Even if it passes it isn't going to stop anyone even if the lawsuits start pouring in.

The media tax was abolished on the iPods recently. (Luckily for me, since I just bought an iPod mini.)

The lawsuits won't stop everyone, but the RIAA's nastiness has made some in the US think twice.

Actually the latest articles are saying file sharing is way up. Not sure how many people are really thinking twice...

It better!
Brian says (9:16 AM): I was looking at houses in Ottawa... I actually have a temptation in me to move
Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

Associated Press: Peer-to-peer use for music swapping on decline

Use of peer-to-peer systems like Kazaa for sharing music and other files on-line has dropped as more North Americans who use the Internet turn to such alternative methods as downloading files from a friend's iPod, a new study finds.
