My wife bought me an owl nest box years ago for christmas.
I was thrilled when I finally had residents. They raise 2 chicks a year now. I just took this pic. She let me get right up to her!

I'll have to get photos of her when she perches on the deck railing when I cook out.

Aww, I'm jealous. We've got a large population of flying squirrels, and we sometimes see some bats, but no owls.

I live in north Georgia.
On a very wooded parcel of land.
I've dedicated my property to wildlife.

I've bought feeder mice before and gotten the hen to trust me to leave her food on the rail of my deck.

Bubblewrap,
How great they're back!
Am hoping to see some of my hummingbirds back soon;
have one feeder out , and the rest ready to fill.
Funny how the simple things like birds returning can be so
good for our spirits.

The local cemetary put up owl boxes a few years ago; they seem
to be helping with the gopher problem there.

Your place sounds great.

Here is one of the hen on a bird feeder.
These owls are mostly insecevores. Nut they will take an occasional small bird.

Sorry it's blurry. I forgot to place my camera back on autofocus.

Nice pictures. A very beneficial hobby for the sake of nature.

Very cool. If anyone is wondering what kind of owl that is-- it's an Eastern Screech Owl (red phase).

Yea it's an Eastern Screech owl.
Here in the north part of GA, they're red as adults. The males are a ruddy browm and the hens are more of a faded pine bark color.
