Yes your tax dollars at work and I wanna thank you all.

Holy carp this thing is fast and I now know why they call it a Cinema Display!

X.3.8 is worlds better than X.2 ever could dream of.

Printers actually install properly and all of the protocals are supported!

This thing absolutely SMOKES my 2.8giggledyhertz P4 Dell.

Yep.
X.1.5 is on my iMac and it's pitiful, X.2 is on my G4 and it's unacceptably un-usable.
So they are 9 machines.

X.3.8 actually works except for my $30,000 drum scanner.
I had to use an old G3 to set it up as a remote scanstation.

Why not put Panther on the G4?

Because I'd actually have to buy it.

I'm waiting for Tiger to actually buy an upgrade to a flakey at best OS.

What was wrong with X.2? I don't remember ever having a problem with it on my G4.

I run the printing department for a large school district.

It was way too unreliable and OS9 never failed me.

I thought the software you had with the drum scanner didn't work?

We still use OS 9 right now at work, soon to be switching to OS X.

Stable is hardly a word I would use for OS 9 esp compared to OS X.

BTW your brother jealous you have a G5 now and he doesn't?

Hopefully you will enjoy your new G5. May you have many happy returns.

That's the most important thing: don't change if your workflow has no issues. Have fun!

I'm running my Howtek on a G3 as a standalone scanstation.
I've networked the drive.

Thanks Apple for bringing me the functionality of the PC world.

The previous versions of X had horrible printing capabilities and the BrisQue and Harlequin are unforgiving. 9 works flawless with them both.

My brother has a Creo/Scitex Lotem platesetter and a Itex660 drum scanner.
I am still envious of his stuff.
They also have an Iris drum proofer.
