I've read a ton of reviews, but am looking for first hand reports. Looking at the 5 speed over the CVT...mainly curious about what your MPG is and reliability (vehicle still only carries the 3 year/36k warranty w/ the exception of the battery which is 8 years)

Thanks...

We just bought an Accord Hybrid (got the car yesterday, in fact). The initial impression is excellent, but I've heard that the technology is a good bit different from the Civic Hybid.

As far as the warranty is concerned, there are a number of extended warranties available directly through Honda.

http://www.jayhondacare.com/Civic_Hybrid.htm (this is the list from one dealer local to me - many dealers charge more, but with a printed list like this you can usually get them to knock their price into line)

Thanks Scifience. I will have to look at the extended warranty as an option. Prices on the extended actually look reasonable, but I'll have to research what it covers (I'm assuming it's not extending the bumper-to-bumper warranty, but I could be wrong).

Gas prices are killing me w/ my current car and where I live in upstate NY. I filled up the other day and it was 2.44 a gallon for premium which the car requires. I'm maybe getting 23-24 miles to the gallon if I drive ultra conservatively...

It actually covers everything except wear and tear (rust, ripped seats, dings, etc.). You can read more about what exactly is covered on that site (under "Coverage," IIRC).

I bought one last year to get HOV privileges here in the northern virginia area. In the winter I get about 37-39mpg on my 44 mile commute (one way) to work (39 miles of it is on the highway at 70-80mph) In the summer that goes up to 41-43ish depending on how you drive. Anything above 70 is the gas sucking time (and hills)

I have gotten 53mpg out of a tank when I was really trying, but that was difficult and required alot of patience (of which I have none)

here is a good site with lots of numbers and information

http://www.greenhybrid.com/

reliability is great, but in one year I only have 1k left on my warranty. I have the CVT but wish I had gotten the manual. I got the CVT because I was tired of stop and go traffic, but now that I have HOV access I never have those issues.

Thanks for the info and the link videian28. We will be going w/ the 5 speed...glad to hear reliability is what you'd expect from a honda. I'm seriously thinking about the extended warranty though since the hybrid is somewhat new technology.
