I currently have a macosx.com email account, but due to a lot of spam I would like to get a new email address. Are there any other good, reliable email providers out there? Macosx.com is generally OK, but I've had some problems from time to time.

I'm not interested in any of the free accounts (gmail, yahoo, etc.). I want to pay around $10-$15 per year for pop email and a little web space.

Have you looked at Spymac? Not sure if they give you "regular" webspace, but for around $20 you get a 3GB mailbox with a 20MB attachment limit (which could essentially be interpreted as "a little webspace").

EDIT: Chech it

You should look at http://www.fastmail.fm/

I used their $15 lifetime service for a few years and loved them. They also have some more expensive services with more features (like space for file storage).

honestly dude... i pay for a domain with email and i still have it forwarded to gmail.com

the features gmail has for free is better than the paid. i find the gmail spam better than my pair networks webmail junk filter too.

use the 10-15 to rent web space or to buy a domain and use gmail

or you could get a domain and hosting for really cheap at nzwebit.com

i've used them in the past and been really happy with their service.

No, i'm not affiliated with them in any way.

I'm discovering that gmail is becoming my default one, I forward my earthlink emails to it.

I've used them for years, and just upgraded to an annual fee. They've got a number of domains to choose from, and file storage as well -- and great IMAP. Check out

though i might be too forward-looking on this, i always try to tell people to avoid using isp email accounts for the shear fact that if you move or decide to change your service, you'll lose the account you had. you then have to go to your address book (if you keep one at all) and mass mail everyone and tell them your e-mail address has changed, which may not get to everyone because it could be considered spam.

non-isp e-mail services are the way to go.

One more vote for fastmail. Combine it with an $8/year personal domain and you'll never have to worry about someone else being in charge of your email again.

.Mac

Can use with your mail.app, can use it on the road through the site and can forward others (I use gmail as my Internet address, mac.com for my "regular" address. Easy to sync and you get the advantages of .mac with it.

not meaning to hijack the thread or anything, but milhous said exactly what i've always wondered - why do people use isp email accounts when, if you ever decide / need to change isp, you'll have issues? i've never actually used one so what am i missing here? are they that much better than gmail, yahoo or whatever?
