not saying it is not neat. it sure is. but it would be the first thing i turned off.

I think it's just an example of what Luminosity/Cairo will be able to do. How GNOME will actually use it in 2.12 is another topic.

I would very much like word processing documents to move like sheets of paper. Not all windows though. Brushed metal fluttering around like that would make no sense.

It's a nice example, neat to show off. It's more of a tech demo than anything, and it's neat to see it does not require much to run.

Yet another "hey, Linux can do that too!!!" but:

1. It will never be utilized in any productive way.
2. There will be three forks from this project, all having their own "wow, check this out"
3. It will take 6 hours to get it to work properly.
4. It will still look like an UGLY windows 3.11 hack.
5. No support.

While technically interesting, Linux STILL is NOWHERE near the consumer desktop.
