Hi
I have been trying to place a picture file (no larger than 200*50 pixels) in my MacNN-signature.
But I still can't make it work.
I have tryed dragging/dropping the file in but how am I supposed to do it?
It's probably a very simple procedure but I am just sick of trying anymore..
Do the file have to be in a certain format?

Hope someone can help me, thanks.
Bstrgds, Rasmusnet

Just like any photo, you need somewhere to host the photo. .Mac is very, very good for that. I think lots of people use imagebucket. You'll need to host your photo there, then in the profile options, do a link to it like this

[ img]www.somewere,com/your image name here[/ img]

And take out the spaces for the correct coding.

Thank you for your VERY speedy reply there Randman!!
Well, perhaps I didn't explain it very thorough.
What I mean is that I would like a picture-signature like you have your "superman/Randman" picture-signature.
Do you know what I mean?
Or have I misunderstood you answer? Hmm..

For the placement of a signature, that's the info I gave.

If you're asking about the creation of a signature, I'd suggest effgee. He made mine and many of the others around here. He's a champ.

That is exactly what he was explaining how to do.

That picture, in order to show up on this webpage, has be put online *somewhere* (that is what "hosted" means). MacNN does not host images directly, so you have to find webspace somewhere where you can upload files, such as images, and where they can be accessed via an http URL, like on a .Mac account (example: http://homepage.mac.com/spheric/Hammond%20sig.png - that *would* be my sig image, if the powers-that-be would eventually let me edit my profile again. It's "hosted" on my own .mac account.).

In order to actually insert an image into a post, or into your signature, you need to use the [ img] [ /img] tags (without the spaces), surrounding the link to your image.

So, in order to insert my signature image, as linked to above, I would type

[ img]http://homepage.mac.com/spheric/Hammond%20sig.png[ /img]

without the spaces, that comes out to

See?

You need to remove the spaces from the [ img] and [ /img] tags, and add an "http://" to the front of your image's address, but then you should be all set.

If you wanna be *really* hip, you can turn the image into a link by adding [ url=http://thelink] [ /url] tags around the image tags (again, without spaces).

For example, my image above would be

[ url=http://homepage.mac.com/spheric/Watchtower-demo.mp3][ img]http://homepage.mac.com/spheric/Hammond%20sig.png[ /img][ /url]

and without the spaces,

Well, it was working here. It was at spymac, but now I moved it to my account at the uni. Prehaps their servers are better.
