Hey guys,
I'd like to hear more music composed by Russian composers. I've got some music by Stravinsky(Firebird), Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite", and some other Russian 'folk' music such as "Moscow Nights", "Song of the Plains", "Battle Hym of the Republic", and i really enjoy that kind of music.

Was wondering if you guys could recommend similar music from that part of the world ? Folk music, instrumental, classical compositions ?

Cheers

Shostakovich's 7th and 8th symphonies are definitely worth a listen (he's pretty good in general).

Others to look for:
Diagilev,
Scriabin,
Rachmaninov (Rachmaninoff, etc.),
Prokofiev...
"You rise," he said, "like Aurora."

Get "Le Sacre du printemps" (Rite of Spring) by Stravinsky. Also, anything by Modest Mussorgsky (especially "Pictures at an Exhibition" [this is a piano piece, ; the orchestrated version by Ravel is phenominal]) or Nikolay Rimsky-Kosakov (Stravinsky's instructor).
