Will most of us assuming it's financially viable would love to fly into space how long do you think it would take for trips to the moon to become a reality.

It should be easy now. The big issue is to carry any load in orbit. We do have the technology to get there (the Moon) and back faster, safer, and cheaper, as long as we start from LOE, or any of the Lagrangians.
What we need is to "set foot" at the Lagrangians with some captured asteroids. Settlements done, it'd be easy to travel anywhere at low cost.
The problem is what to do there? Besides mining exploitation, a vacation trip on a Lunar Base will not be worth it, except for very rich people, and then, it might turn into a boring trip where you get to puke most of the time, with extra time for training. Not many CEOs have that kind of time (one hopes so).
This leisure based society was true a few years ago, as a dream. The future looked promising then. Now, it looks like more challenging. Vacation camps on the Moon are a thing of the past.
The biggest challenge will be about the worthiness to go in Space versus working at our own survival. And Space colonies will not be cheap.

Let's see, the Russian gave that guy a few orbits for US$25 million. Wanna figure out the rate for a lunar journey? Besides, the moon is dead right now unless there's a reason to go back, to mine moon dust or cheese or something.
Nasa is still grounded and you're asking about space travel? Get a life.
