A talking Jesus doll is due to go on sale in May, along with versions of Moses, the Virgin Mary and David, as a teddy bear maker tries to find a market with churches and religious families.

What better way to trivialize the message than by making a toy out of it?

Better way? Hmm, how about you have the doll say, "turn the other cheek, my son," and thus have the doll itself trivialize the message another level

The Moses doll will recite the 10 Commandments such as "You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth".

Religious hypocrisy or blatant stupidity?

So only abstract sculpture is acceptable in the eyes of god?

According to Judaism at the time (and still the really Orthdox today), and later Islam, any manmade depiction of a living creature or angel is idolatry. Therefore Jesus and Moses would burn with religious fury at the sight of statues, toys, movies and cartoons about themselves. They were very Taliban!

Fortunately not all religious people follow the texts otherwise the Arts would have suffered greatly.

The arts DID suffer from religion. I've got no bones with religion at all mind.
