Online petitions simply don't work.

Star Trek couldn't even be saved when they raised their own money..

It's not really an online petition, in the traditional sense, since it is an official Fox site. The point is, watch Arrested or lose it.

Same here. Let's hope this revival of Family Guy will make the morons realize that animation has a future and will consider bringing it back soon.

Uhm, hold on a minute.

Fox puts up a petition (of sorts) where people pledge* to support a show that Fox itself airs in the first place?

Am I the only one who thinks that this sounds just a bit pathetic?

* - The day I pledge anything to a TV station (!!) will most likely be the day I pay for sex for the first time - which, coincidentally, will also be the day I have sworn to put myself out of my mysery.

Actually the story behind this is that the Producers of the show are very happy with it and love it and want it to keep going, etc. etc. Pretty much they are their own fans. They can't understand WHY people aren't watching it (might have something to do with the fact that most of the humor would probably go over the head of Fox's target demographic and the average American). So the Fox executives have hinted to them that next season would be the last season if viewership didn't go up. So the producer's have been targeting different only BBs and this petition in order to save their own show from Fox Corporate.

Aaah - that makes a bit more sense. I've never seen the show and assumed it was in line with rest of their programming (aside from a few exceptions) - looks like the producers need to find a new "home".

The site says nothing about "saving"...is AD really in trouble? Have plans been announced to terminate it?

I watch it, and it's a fun show, but I wouldn't say the humor is incredibly intelligent...then again, perhaps more so than most things these days.

You're right, the humor is not of an intellectual kind per se, but it is a subtler humor based in significant part on continuity from previous episodes. I think that fact makes it a less approachable show to newer viewers.

Nobody watches that shitty Antique Roadshow program, but it's never going to go off the air.

That statement only applies to shows that are on the threshold of being cancelled. <offtopic>I wish The Simpsons would reach that threshold sometime in the next decade, because we're rapidly approaching the point where the number of craptacular seasons will be equal to the number of classic seasons. It's an undignified way to exploit a once superb show. On the other hand, looking at a particular other crappy show on Fox Sunday that shall remain nameless, I suppose Fox may as well continue producing illegitimate seasons of The Simpsons.

American TV is almost entirely about getting commercials on air and how much money they can get out of them. If enough revenue doesn't come in from commercials they cancel even great shows.

That's why they don't have anything that produces constant high quality programming like the BBC does. Without commercials, and being morally obliged to TV licence payers, the BBC concentrates on quality programme content. It's a shame BBC America has those terrible American commercials for motorised beds that will help you grow taller, exercise machines that will make you look like Pamela Anderson, and medicine tablets that will make you look like a child again.

Yes, whenever I go to the UK I am always astonished at how sophisticated the programs are, especially Bo' Selecta and Ant & Dec. I usually just go straight to Sky, skip past Channel 4, 5, etc, and watch Kerrang.

Considering that the site lets you sign the "pledge" however many times you want, which makes it even more meaningless, I think the better way to show support is to sign up for the newsletter. I just hope I won't get bombarded with Fox spam now (I de-checked all of the options for it, anyway).

The least stuff worth watching on UK TV is better than any Paris Hilton and Ashlee Simpson dominated crap that I have to hear about all the time. Ant and Dec, you guys rule!

Oh right, looking at these pictures reminded me how truly classy Jordan is

And her hubby/fiancee/whatever, talk about having a face to scare children!

In the end though, they're just as bad as Paris Hilton, Donald Trump, and the rest of those foul spunk bucket celebrities who get paid for doing f*ck all.

Haven't you noticed that there have been no new Futurama episodes on for a few years?

I miss Futurama as well. I love the way it could take current themes and make fun of them by using loopy scifi.

Ha! I didn't say Jordan was classy or that I would really waste my time watching her. I just said she was better than the other 'piece of ****ing trash waste of carbon bitch why did anyone ever give birth to her and who is the ****ing **** who keeps giving her work...'

(Trash like that calls for swearing. Wholly justified)

The season finally was great. I really do hope it gets picked up.
