At first the record label exec loved apple for offering a legal alternative for downloading Music. Now that they see Apple's model and fairplay is a great busniness model, they basically want to raise prices of songs and albums(and they claim decrease prices of old songs ...which i personally dont beleive).

And they want Apple to licence fairplay (in not so many words)....so basically they want Apple to provide the service, the technology, hardware and software, with Apple having no control over the channel and on what the songs get played. it's no big secret that Apple is using the iTMS to push iPod sales... and you know what.....if the iPod was a crappy product i, as a consumerwould be complaining as well...at which point id probably switch music vendors....but thats nto the case.

So the record execs turn to mobile phone companies for flexi-pricing models, etc.....where songs can be purchased on the phone. YUCK !!! Can u imagine browsing a list of thousands of songs and buying them on a tiny cell phone ? sick...it would be like being able to buy songs off something not nearly as intuitive as an iPod and with a smaller screen. No thank you.....i'll manage my music on my Computer and appreciate the abilitiy to manage that same music on multiple devices (ala iTunes motorola phones).

I like computers, cause as Jobs said...you cant do photo editing on your camera at a pro level, nor video editing on your camcorder. The computer is the digi-hub whether these execs like it. It's a great model for apple and theyre benifing from the brilliant products they made, and consumers are estatic for the functionality and ease of use, not to mention easy to follow pricing model.

I guess i just get annoyed when fat cats get greedy....thats why most people turned to piracy in the first place.

And on a side note...Anyone know wen iTMS will be coming to Asia and Australia ? I'm down here in Australia, and ive been waiting for it for ages !

If they raise songs/albums, they are going to kill the medium. Considering they are saving a considerable amount of money and gaining a ridiculous amount of user data on everyone buying, I think it should stay where it is.

I still buy CDs because no DRM, higher encoding, etc. etc. etc. It's worth the extra $2 IMHO. That being said, I have picked up a handful of songs out of convenience from time to time... before a trip, long weekend, road trip, etc. etc.
