So, yesterday me and my little dog and my family went down to the Miami Beach Polo World Cup 2005 competition. It was a blast and a lot of people were there. But, what was most impressive was the DJ - running the show with his PowerBook! That was really awesome and he's cool. His name is DJ Erok.
So, here are some pictures. There were so many people there but I'll just put up a few, including one of Paris and her girlfriends.
Mods, feel free to delete if you don't like the pics. Fellow MacNNers, post your own pics of Macs at a party.
My dog was the star of the party, though! Everyone loved him...even the DJ.

Too cool Cody!
Didn't know they played polo on the sand.
Would love to set up my PB to do some DJ work at a couple
big bashes I attend each year. Still trying to get all my SW updated
and do some movie editing. Just never enough hours in the day;
and the (now 10 wk old) Lucy is really a handful; guessing 18#.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
P~

I'm fine. Did you see my Yorkie? Isn't he cute?
Anyway, I thought they might delete the pictures because sometimes they come through HUGE for some reason.

No aristrocraps, er, aristrocrats!
Just polo people - they are people who love horses and love to party.

It looks like you had a lot of fun down in Miami! I didn't know they played polo on the beach-- Americans are always coming up with such fun twists on old games.

You're right about "Patty."
Patty was not at the polo party.
My dog is accounted for - he left in my Suburban with me.

Polo isn't worse than golf. Golf is okay...with the right people and some mojitos stashed in the cart.
I love golfing.

Oh, and about Patty? I was enjoying that thread and watching people post. Too bad it's locked.
I'm wondering who it could be.
Who was here and isn't any longer?

Have you ever golfed? Seriously?
I thought it was terribly boring also...until I started playing golf. Turns out that it is actually good physical exercise. Most of the time we walk the course (not riding in golf carts) and it takes a LOT of practice and the sun is out, the course is beautiful, and you get into a zen zone with your thoughts and just making the shot - a great shot. It's addictive.

I vote LBK. The whole British accent/vocab thing is a dead give-away.
I guess if we wanted to confirm it we could start an anti-muslim, anti-Palestinian thread and see if Patty/LBK responds.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Is that tent always there? I was at the wine and food fest there at the end of February (first time in south beach). Do they leave it up all the time, or do they take it down between events?

Mountain climbing?
Do you do that? That would scare me. I'm afraid of heights. Has to do with an uncle who pretended to throw me into Niagara Falls when I was 4.
Now, about the "Patty" thing, I'm not so sure it's LBK. Might be...

I don't think the tent is there all of the time. I think that they erect it when it's needed. How was that wine and food festival? I wanted to go to that, actually.
Where do you go mountain climbing, demograph? That's cool! Post some pix will you?

It was good. I got drunked up and full, so what more could ask from a wine and food festival?

I heard that Mario Battali and his wife had a huge blow out down there. Apparently he has a girlfriend on the side and he invited her to come down there...and then his wife showed up. I guess he didn't show up for a few of the shows as a result and some people were upset. Anyway, it's just foodie gossip that I know about.
Where did you stay when you were down?

Final scratch? I dunno. I don't know anything about that, but the DJ was really awesome. Being a DJ is so much more than just playing music. He really got the party going.
I only know that the party was fun and we all had a great time...even my dog!

Polo is NOT a simple, easy game; it's rather like soccer on horseback, and unless your horse is as stoked about the game as you are, you have a miserable time. Plus it's one thing for two footballers to collide; think about what happens when two polo players run into each other! The only thing against polo is that since it costs a lot to own a polo pony, it's pretty much relegated to the rich, not just the well-to-do, and let's face it, a lot of them have "issues" with behaving like nice people.
I used to like golf, but I can't play anymore because I've worn out my shoulder. I like to watch the highlights though-it's like any other sport in that there are some very interesting moments, but there's also a LOT of sitting and waiting.

HI LBK!
Naw, we won't shoot you. I didn't think it was you. How are you? We've missed you around here. I especially miss your condescending wit.
Yes, polo is a tough sport, that's for sure. I actually feel sorry for the horses most of the time, to be honest. They live rough lives unless they are taken care of by a good stable. Most of the polo ponies at this match started at $100,000 and went up to about $500,000 each. I know because I asked out of curiousity. I was talking to a jockey by the name of Tom Winter and he told me that. Very nice guy.

It lets you play your digital music through any DJ system. It comes with these nifty, especially made vinyl records that let you do whatever you want (even scratch!) to/with your digital music. It's really cool in multiple levels. I mean, for one, you don't have to carry 10 crates of vinyl with you because all of your music is in, say MP3s in your PowerBook.
Anyway, yes, as a DJ you have to know your crowd. I wonder what type of music he played for you folks.

He gave me a CD. It was funked up stuff, mixed older jive kind of stuff (Prince), along with some current stuff - like Usher. He got the party jamming. Everyone was standing around eating sushi and hors d'oeuvres and drinking champagne mixed with Red Bull and it was kind of boring and we were thinking of leaving and then he started music and the party jammed. He was/is great.

Did you ask Paris about her stance on the Terry Schiavo issue?
No. I'm not sure that Paris even knows who Terri Schiavo is.
But, I did chat with her briefly and she told me that Kimberly Stewart, Rod Stewart's daughter, is going to be her partner on the next Simple Life. Rod, BTW, has a huge mansion in Palm Beach and hangs out there with Penny Lancaster, his current GF.

All of your pictures are very nice, thanks for sharing. Appears that fun was had by all.
Impressed by the DJ using a PowerBook, he realizes quality.
The above picture wins the cutest award.

man, looking at these pics makes me so excited to be going to Florida at the end of the week. Never been, so I can't wait to hit the beach!
Any suggestions of things worth doing for some university boys in the Palm Beach area?

Palm Beach area?
Make sure you hit Clematis Street in downtown WPB on either Thursday or Friday night and save South Beach for Saturday night. You HAVE to go to South Beach. It's the best.
