First Adobe bought Macromedia, and now GameStop bought Electronics Boutique. The only real competition they had was each other, so I don't see the retail video game market getting any better from this. Together, they have 3,800 stores, with their only large-scale competition (that i can think of) being non-game-specific stores like Best Buy and what's left of Toys R Us.
I never really preferred either store, since I buy online (and usually just pick the cheapest place between amazon/toysrus, EB, and GS), but I still can't imagine this will make things better for the consumer.
