It's been around for awhile. Longer than gmail.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

Indeed. Look at the iMacs that make up the Google logo. I think they were current when this was released.

Book mark it?
I kinda wish Safari allowed the google tool bar to search through stuff like images.google scholar.google maps.google etc without having to visit the pages first.

well i know i could bookmark it, but it would be easier, if i could just make the google search thing use it instead.

i know some place i read about changing it to use a different search engine, but i haven't a clue how to do it.

As much as I like Google, come back when they have actually released some of their applications on the Mac, like Picassa and the Gmail notifier.

I think iPhoto 5 measures up to Picasa quite well. I've been hoping they'd do a Mac version of Keyhole, now that they've bought them.

Oh, it definitely does. I just wish that Google was more dedicated to releasing their software on our platform.

you can use the mail app to get your gmail.

if you don't want to do that and just want something to tell you when you have a new email, you could get one of the many konfabulator widgets.

There are always alternatives. This still says nothing about the fact that Google has yet to release any software for the Mac OS (although I have read that they may release a Gmail notifier for us).

What for ? To be a cheap alternativ to a great app that comes with every new Mac ?
That would be truly a stupid business decision.

I agree, I'd like to see Keyhole for OS X.

I'm surprised a Mac user thinks choice is bad. That sounds a little Microsoftian to me.

Are you really so sure no one would use it? I know a number of people who dislike iPhoto for whatever reason and have tried out a number of other image organization programs. Not everyone is in love with iPhoto. Plus, in order to use the latest and greatest version, you have to shell out money once a year for the entire iLife suite. Considering iPhoto is the only iLife application that a good number of people use, having a free alternative would be nice.

i really only said mail app as a temporary. i think they should release their own, but...if you have to pay for it, why bother? mail app is fine for me, but having choices is good.

An official Gmail Notifier would be a good thing... especially if they are suposed to be Mac Friendly.
