Hey everyone. Thought I'd come here with this request, since I've seen some of the work you do and it always amazes me.

The Computing and System Sciences Department is developing a software package called Touch� that needs an icon and logo.

Details.

Touch� is a fencing (sword-fighting) term. According to Webster.com, touch� is �used to acknowledge a hit in fencing or the success or appropriateness of an argument, an accusation, or a witty point�.
Our software is used to check for problems in a computer program. The programmer submits a supposedly flawless program, and if our system can find an error, Touch�. Hence the name.
We would like an icon that captures the fencing idea. At least one of the judges is partial to the idea of an animal with a rapier, but there are many possibilities and we don�t want to constrain you. If we knew exactly what we wanted, we would have told you. :-)
The icon (some figure fencing) and logo (Touch�) must be separable. In other words, we would like to use just the icon or just the logo by itself without having to do �artistic Siamese twin surgery� to separate the two. This is not to discourage integrated design, but they must be separable.
The design is intended for use on web pages. That means that it must be scalable. For instance, it could be used as a small letterhead tag, or as a large background/watermark.
The winning submission becomes the property of the CSS Department.

There could be a small amount of money involved (ie $10 or so), but I will let you know about that when I find out. Feel free to post your ideas/designs in here or email them to me (see sig).
