Me personally I would buy either a downtown condo, prob a penthouse unit with a great view in a building with a indoor pool, and gym or buy a crappy house somewhere really nice in West Vancouver that is close enough to a nice park and beach, demolish it because its the land I want and build a modest house that I like, modern, energy efficent with my own private pool. Nothing big, I wouldnt need anything larger then what most middle class families have. For a car I would buy a car I like, perhaps a 88 Prelude and spend 10 000 on restoring it to perfect condition. I don't need a porche or anything. I would want something that I like, that I would drive all the time that wouldnt attract a ton of attention. Then I would invest some of the money and start up companies that are run under a motto of, Profits with Social and Enviromental responsibility as in I would pay my workers good, and run the companies with the enviroment in mind. Small profits with out the expense of people or the envirment is better to me then large profits. As long as it makes profits. I would splerge on the best Mac, and good furniture, nice home entertainment system. 25 Million dollars done right should be good to keep me wealthy for the rest of my life and continue to lay a good foundation for my family long after im gone.

What would others do? Be realistic!

I wouldn't buy anything. I would produce a movie and make sure it made double or more profit. It would be directed by Stephen Chow and called 'Chop Socky Ghetto Football Warriors'.

Good movie.

Seriously, I'd like to donate some of it to MacNN. Why? Because I'm a good person. This place is one of the reasons I like to surf the net.

• Set aside 15 million to use for the rest of my life (hey, I'm only 17, I've got a lot of living to do ).
• Pay for tuition upfront
• Buy a nice car for myself, by two more nice cars for parents
• Buy a Dual 2.0 GHz Power Mac G5, 30" Al display, and Photoshop for my dad (and a new printer)
• Give them 2 million to live out the rest of their lives
• Donate the remaining amount to charity, theme/donationshare developers, websites I enjoy, etc.

$25 million divided by the following (using one sum payments as often as I can and capitalizing on interest from safe investing) Get a house and set aside money for furniture, groceries, appliances, repairs and bills until I'm 100 (including adjustments for average inflation) + Get a car and set aside money for gas, repairs, and replacing the car every 5 years until I'm 75 (including adjustments for average inflation) + Get all manners of insurance for my family, and insure all the above items and anything else I might purchase until I'm 100 and set aside money for renewals and upgrade + the cost of college education, groceries, furniture, clothes and toys for the possibillity of two kids until they're 23. And if I die early, my family can take over my finances and do with it as they like.

I'll probably only be able to get a very modest home and car. I doubt $25 million is enough for the future for all of that. But essentially, I want to live like I'm retired, and use my work income to travel, gradually increase my quality of life, and to contribute to charities as often as I can. I don't understand why many lucky rich people piss away the possibility to live with less financial risk.
When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

I can manage to wait 3 months for some of my investments to start paying off, and with $25mil, I can earn approximately $200k per quarter. I'm patient

I'd buy this site and shut it down. I'd link it to www.microsoft.com.

Then, i'd buy a million dollar mansion. Then, I'd make porn films for a living with only the hottest chicks and sell it on the internet and make millions more .

I'd by a house close to where I live right now so that's say 1 to 2 million leaving about 23 million. Get me an Aston Martin DB9. Invest the rest of the money live of the interest and that's it. Oh and maybe get a new PowerMac but that's just pocket change.
