http://www.nokia.com/nseries/ flash heavy site!

N70 is basically a 6680 with more camera based stuff.
N90 is a twist/flip screen video camera phone (carl zeiss lens).
N91 is a MP3 player phone with a 4Gb hard drive.

N90 is due Q2, N70 in Q3 and N91 in Q4 before end of year.

And Nokia are making sensible keypads again, yay!

N Series though..... is N-Gage going to fall into line with these phones? E3 may tell...

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

Unfortunately, your solution is no improvement.

And the K700 is definitely one of the ugliest cheapo-bling phones on the market.

Correct solution:

Unfortunately, not yet iSync-supported - even in Tiger.

(Though Tiger appears to have an iSync phone plug-in directory, indicating that *perhaps* phone support will be easier, more modular, and quicker in the future...)

I agree with you on the k700, it feels really cheap. Like most of their other models.

I think the N91 interface solution is quite a good one - requires less of a compromise than using a normal keypad to control music. Also, although it only currently has a 4G drive, these things will I'm sure have 20G before we know it. Then they may begin to be iPod competition, not because people will particularly choose them over an iPod but because if your phone contract gives you a phone-***-20gig MP3 player and you have to get a phone anyway, why bother getting an iPod as well?

N91 is AMAZING. Hard drive and WLAN - I can use Skype for Series 60 and I don't have to carry two devices in my pockets(phone & iPod)!

People here will beat you up for saying that, but I don't disagree. I currently have an iPod photo and a shuffle, but would dump either/both if a usable convergent solution were available. Sure, dragging & dropping files is cumbersome, but ONE device is what I've been whining for for years. I hope it's a Moto/iTunes phone that comes on the market by summer's end, but if not... I'd be willing to try The Other Guys, whoever they are. I'm an Apple fanboy, but an open-minded one.

Besides, that Nokia doesn't look too bad.

So far the Treo is the only phone that has an Apple ][ emulator. That's all I want if I get some fancy phone.

I just want a super thin phone that has blue tooth. Is that too much to ask? I mean, do I really need a 2 mp camera on my phone?

Yeah, I don't need a camera in my phone. I already have a decent camera.

I also already have a decent mp3 player.

I just want something I can talk on, and store people's numbers.

And it fits in my pocket.

I like the clam shell design as well. I don't like exposed buttons.

That phone is larger than the SE's. And new Seimens is selling the phone division.

The N90's 2.1 " display with 352 x 416 pixels is looking nice, its about double the resolution of a standard Series 60 phone, and thats the one released first. Depends on price (if its on Vodafone 3G it'll cost an arm and a leg, if its on 3 they'll give the things away!) but that feature alone is getting me thinking about it. Thing is the RS MMC card slot, it'll mean my MMC card will be wasted on it .

MilkMan Dan, how about a Motorola RAZR V3?

It's actually quite a bit flatter than the K700i, making it seem a lot less bulky.

And it's sad that Siemens has had such problems with their phone division. AFAIK, they haven't yet found a solution, have they? The S65 took a while and a couple of firmware updates (problems were, unfortunately, highly publicized, despite the fact that the x65 series had no more problems than most other phones), but it is an absolutely kick-ass phone.

This new Nokia was on the BBC news last night. They were billing it as an iPod competitor/killer and even asked a bunch of white ear-bud people in London if they'd prefer it to an iPod. The iPod won 2 to 1 IIRC.

Did you all notice that Nokia reckon it'll hold 3000 songs? Obviously that's at some crappy bit-rate and not taking into account the operating software/contacts/pictures.

Still, I can see the appeal of having just one device. I think there's a way to go before these convergent devices are small enough for my tastes though.

The idea of a convergent device is quite appealing - who wants to carry around multiple devices if the functionality could be combined in one? But I believe it is inherently impracticable to create a multi-function device that does multiple things well.

I believe that is precisely Apple's point and the major reason for iPod's success.

It does less, but better.

It finally works perfectly with iSync using this super-simple hack, now:

I think the problem with one device doing everything is that it really gets too complicated in terms of interface, you have to sacrifice simplicity if you want to do more on the same screen using the same control pad.

You know this iTunes phone that's coming out... I really don't see why Apple doesn't partner with Moto to produce an iPod phone. IE an iPod that can make and recieve calls but has that as a feature secondary to music. Perhaps a flip out click wheel. Add a menu item to the main menu for cell phone, add one that appears if you're being called like, answer call. Have music shut up and a ring tone or something when a call is coming in and have something come on screen asking if you wanna answer the call and who it's by. Add the ability to make calls from the contacts menu. If you're smart you'd almost never need to even enter in a number.
I think it'd be freaking cool...

I hope BenQ, who just bought Siemens' phone division, will refrain from using similarly idiotic "keypad" layouts.

I dunno.

I love the S65 - I think it looks like inventory from the Death Star in Episode IV.

Note that the silver front shell is aluminum, not plastic. I also really like the proportions. Sony-Ericsson's design seems a little off to me on the k700 and k750 - bling-tacky.

Plus the keypad and joystick on the k700 are complete and utter crap - spongy, flimsy rubbish. Are the k750 keys as shitty? At least it doesn't have the incredibly cheap plastic tack look of the k700, with the light-up circle continued under the keys...

The S65 keypad takes a little getting used to, but it's very firm, with clear tactile feedback. And the joystick rocks.

I'm just really happy that I've finally got it working with iSync.
