TigerDirect rebates suck. I've heard that half the time you have to fight with them on the phone to get your rebate approved. If you decide to do it make sure you make photocopies of EVERYTHING because they'll be looking for a reason to reject your rebate.

Pff, plain vanilla 802.11b routers are commodity products, especially those that have been on the market for 2 or more years. Cost almost nothing, worth almost nothing.

i know this is free, and not much is better than free, but a friend and i went to compusa and they had a netgear 802.11g & 4 port router for $29. down from $79. $40 instant savings, no rebate.
she had just bought an ibook and i was going to loan her my spare airport express, so she got this. i installed it at her house quickly and painlessly.
i'd suggest looking there if you are in the market for a cheap wireless router.

"worth almost nothing."
I say wireless internet access in your house is worth something.

I'm looking at it from an economic point of view.
Low price = low worth (to society, the general public). Supply and demand.
The personal value you gain from it has nothing to do with it. It might be low for a very expensive thing, or high for something that you got for free.

I won't get a 802.11b router in 2005.
I bought the Belkin Wireless Router (F5D72304) from BestBuy weeks ago. It was $9.99 after two $30 mail-in rebates.

Why not, the person that is going to get it has a 3 meg internet connection and a clambshell ibook.
Unless 10mb internet connections are around the corner.

I bought that router. I'm only sending the wireless signal downstairs so I can't comment on the range. This is the first time I've actually sent in the rebates, but I fully expect the one from DLink to come. Who knows about the $10 from Tiger.
