I could care less about this song, but Missy Elliot's "I'm Really Hot" has a segment that breaks away from the original beat into a kind of upbeat jazz melody. I've heard it used in other songs as well, but have never been able to place the original. Here's a link to where Missy's version can be heard. I would greatly appreciate if someone could point out the artist and title.

And while I'm at it, how about some more suggestions for this loungy kind of jazz. Upbeat and melodic, with kind of a funky spin typical of lounge music. Any must have's you could recommend? Thanks.
Just my $.02 :-)

If you're talking about just that little four-note sample that keeps getting repeated over and over from around 2:30 - piano, acoustic bass and drums:

That's really tough to place; sounds like any of a million cool jazz records.

From the way you put the question, though, I think you're not talking about the original, but what she makes of it, with the funky beat on it. If so, check out Tab Two, US3, Jazzmatazz, and the United Future Organization.

Thanks for the suggestions on other groups. I know it's a hard one to place, but it has to be from an original song. I've heard it elsewhere. I'll find it eventually.

I think you would enjoy these two. I've seen Nicola Conte live and he is awesome.
