First of all, this thread is about the GREAT CNN Article that is up and running bright and early this morning in honor of Tiger.

Link here.

However, notice the end of the article:

Of course, it's impossible to judge how Tiger will compare with the next-generation of Windows, since Longhorn isn't available.

As more details come out, additional complaints of Microsoft copying Mac OS X will surely be heard.

Both Apple and Microsoft are trying to address the same problems: sifting more quickly through more and more data.

The onus is now on Bill Gates & Co. to see if it can one-up Steve Jobs' shop.
Don't you love it?

So, I got to thinking that maybe the reason Microsoft is taking so long with "LONGhorn" is because he's waiting until Apple perfects OS X until it is absolutely perfect...so that Microsoft can simply steal Apple's technology when it is perfected?

Or is that Microsoft is now unable to steal technology from Apple...thus they are actually having to DEVELOP their own OS this time around instead of copying Apple and that is why it's taking so long?

One thing is for sure: Microsoft has GOT to be embarrassed by the length of time LONGhorn is taking. I used to work there and I'm embarrassed for them.

With that much said, about the only "Longhorn" that we like around here is...Longhorn Steakhouse. Who knows. Maybe Bill was eating there one night and decided to copy that too.

Who's buying Tiger tonight?

That was a cool article. It was picked up by several outlets.

I'm not buying it tonight... I am going to wait till the lustre of 10.3 wears off and until updates are released for 10.4.

I'm not sure if I'll buy it tonight either. I want to go to the Apple Store down in Bal Harbor/Aventura, though, if I'm able.

But, then, I'll probably buy a new Mac and I'm trying to decide if I want a new PowerBook or a new desktop system. So, I'm reluctant to go. I have no willpower.

Cody, I think that's the first Mac-related post of yours that I can think of.

Anyway, Tiger rocks. Got my copy early in the morning. Already installed. Just waiting to get home after work to finish tweaking its gui-ness till SS comes out.

Well, I can't wait to hear what all of you have to say about it.

I'm trying to go to the Apple Store tonight but we have so much going on that it's going to be tough.

And, I'm trying to avoid my urge and impulse to splurge on a new PowerBook.

Say about the article or Tiger?

Article wasn't very well-written but I guess it hit the basics for peecee users who need small words. At least it was positive and it did give the to Mr Gates & Co.

Tiger is awesome! Easiest installations ever.

That was amusing. Sort of like a Steven Seagal movie title.

About Tiger, Randman, give MORE DETAILS, please?

Or be one of the MacNN bloggers, will you?

Thanks.

If you want to read a real review of Tiger, read Ars' review.

Now that is some good stuff.

Despite a much smaller user base, Mac OS X has been steps ahead of Microsoft's Windows on key fronts since its first release in 2001.

It's got more advanced and polished graphics. It's less prone to malicious attacks. And Macs look better than nearly all Windows PCs.
This is my favorite quote from the story.

Did Randman post there?

I'll check it out - you're right about that!

I feel foolish because it didn't occur to me to check there.

Longhorn is a bar in Whistler at the base of Blackcomb.

Winter olympics will be held there in 2010 (in Whistler not the bar)...about the same time as Longhorn's release.

You do know you can install modified Panther themes in Tiger without having SS right?

I did
