I am looking to find out as much information as I can on iPod marketing. This includes iPod and iTunes market share, market plans or market strategies.

I am working on a Market Audit Plan for a Masters Degree level course. I picked Apple because I have been an Apple user for over 5 years and I own an iPhoto.

I have had trouble finding market data for iPod or iTunes. Please help me! I am not asking anyone to do my report… just point me to some web sites that would provide the information that I need to write it. I have found a couple but he data on those sites was poor.

Thanks! If you want to e-mail me anything please feel free. Drew13drew@yahoo.com

Ok, stupid question, but how good are your Google skills ?
Given the right search query, you should be able to find at least something.

Besides that, you should dig through online marketing journals. Your university should provide access to those. You could also contact Apple directly and ask, what they could give out.

Recent market shares:
iPod photo/regular/mini - 92% of hd mp3 players
iPod shuffle - 58% of flash players last month (numbers just cam out yesterday)
iTMS ~ 70%

Marketing Plan: Get users to use the whole system - iPod, iTunes, iTMS, and hopefully a Mac later.

He's doing it for a Masters. He's going to need reliable sources to go with the numbers.

Depends on how much time you have.
In writing (fax or letter) if you have more time, or by phone if you are more desperate.

Personally, I'd try to get something out of journals and databases. There's gotta be something out there on that. LexisNexis has tons of articles listed for "iPod" and "marketing"

Does your university have a reasonable library ? Ask your libriarian for help to do the research for material. Any good grad school should have library staff specialized on research.

I actually just wrote my economic thesis on consumer choice regarding the iPod/iTMS. I have references for more of those numbers. PM me and I can send you something.
