Perhaps System's tightest and most intense material to date, Mezmerize — which comes out on May 17 — is loaded with breakneck, Slayeresque riffs and a complex sense of melody that's reminiscent of Faith No More.
dunno if there are any fans here, but the first half of the new album is due may 17th and supposed to resemble the band's first album more then toxicity and steal this album. if your not a fan move on from this thread.

lucky, im in the states and they probably won't be touring here until later this year. but i'll actually be in munich the same day they are playing at "Zenith" (may be wrong on that one). i want to see them bad but i have no idea on how to go about getting tickets over there, or if i'd have to advance buy.

I look forward to it. But I don't like the way it's presented. I feel the exact same way about Disturbed's upcoming album. They are both being advertised as going back to their old style. I think that's a recipe for stagnation. Hopefully it's just words and that they both are actually developing and progressing musically. I also hope that the new SOAD is not too political. I know there will be some political songs, but hopefully not many. That's a turn off for me. When they get deep, it's awesome.

Not that i've heard the whole first cd or anything. but it is not nearly as political as their other albums.

That's good news. I was afraid that they'd be MORE political on this one (Iraq, etc). I love their quirky style. But the one song that totally convinced me to get into them was Aerials. They can be SO dramatic.

Unfortuately, listen to B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own ? (Bomb I'm guessing)) It's a poorly veiled commentary on the war in Iraq.

That's exactly why I was concerned that they would get TOO political. If you didn't know, that video was also directed by Michael Moore.

"Slayeresque riffs?" C'mon, I like System and all, but guitar wise they are nowhere close to slayer.

They are from California. Or do you mean their country of origin? The singer is Armenian, guitarist is from Iraq, I don't know about the others, but I think it's similar.
I think Slayer and SOAD are completely different. SOAD tends to have more melodic guitar, not that either on is better than the other (IMHO they're both great), just different.
