I networked 2 eMacs on 10.3.8 into a network with 1 XP PC and 2 '98 PCs the other day. I had no trouble accessing the files on the others from the Macs, but had difficulty going back. I networked in a printer and scanner today too, so Good luck. It wasn't too hard, it was my first try, and someone else had already tried and done a shoddy job before me.

No. Bstone is absolutely right: the Lounge is for chit-chat, not technical support questions. We don't enforce the lounge as much as we do the technical forums, but realistically, this wasn't the right forum.

How must the truth hurt me?

The whole site is mac oriented, the networking forum doesn't mention Windows in the description and I'm sure we've all seen the reactions when you post the 'wrong' thing in any of the specific topics. There's plenty of Mac talk in the lounge, so what if Sealobo posted a technical support question in the lounge?

Seriously, 'enforce' the lounge? Get over yourselves.

And as for my comment being uncalled for, yeah, whatever.

No really though. Why does it matter so much to you that he posted a network question in the lounge? I could see why you'd be bothered if it was posted in the GUI forum. But the lounge?

And what actions am I not taking responsibility for? Having an opinion that it doesn't really matter where a question is asked so long as only the right answers are given?

Having an opinion that certain people feel they have authority over another's actions because they have 'admin' or 'moderator' under their name? That those same people take their 'jobs' here way too seriously.

bstone, I stand by my comment that you are an idiot. Your comment was as much uncalled for as mine. It served no purpose to the discussion at all. It only served to boost your sense of self importance you self deluding fool.

This is me taking responsibility for my actions. This is me, probably getting banned.

And you're still an idiot.

The kind of crap that followed the answer to Sealobo's question is the PERFECT example for why you should post technical questions in the appropriate forum. Ask a networking question in the Networking forum, it gets answered, and you're done. Ask it here, and this thread will linger for days with people sniping at each other for no good and useful reason.

But... bstone started it!

There's always a good reason to snipe at people that ask for it.

I'm having trouble connecting my foot to someone's ass... can I do it via kinetic energy?
