If this is really true, that's pretty cool. Sometimes it takes an animal to restore my faith in humanity.

A newborn baby abandoned in a Kenyan forest was saved by a stray dog who apparently carried her across a busy road and through a barbed wire fence to a shed where the infant was discovered nestled with a litter of puppies, witnesses said Monday.

Update

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- Offers to adopt a newborn girl found among a litter of puppies after being abandoned are pouring in to the Kenyan hospital where she is being treated, and the stray dog credited with her rescue has a home and a name -- "Mkombozi" or "Savior."

The story never says what happens to the dog.

Yes, it's good to hear positive news. Man's best friend, thank you.

I read in the paper that it was adopted by someone living in the compound. Sadly, it said the last of the dogs puppies had died yesterday. It would have been nice to know their was a whole pack of doggies running around genetically predisposed to do good deeds.
