This year we only had 1 owl chick.
Last year we had 2. But usually there's only 1 chick.
The daddy owl is close by in a tree keeping guard.
I'll try to get video of him chasing me off.

Pff, guess who I saw this morning!
Only the hottest Starbucks femme worker ever! I'd take and post a pic of her, but I don't think she's into that
Oh, and cute owl, too

Are you the father?
No kidding, I am actually jealous of you. Congrats for having a good environment for these birds!

Where I used to live, there was only one species of owl.
The Inuit see this animal as a delicacy. I never had a chance to taste it though. Predators are usually more affected by pollution being at the end of the food chain. (Which is another good reason to not eat your fellow human being!)
It is also one of the emblems of Quebec.
Here is another nice pict with a text (in French).
bubblewrap, do you know the name of the species which the owls in your backyard belong to?

They are Eastern Screech Owls.
They're made the nest box their home for the last 6 years.
I live in Northwest Georgia(Canton area), near the Blue Ridge Mountains.(at the very western end)
Most of my property is undeveloped. I'm going to keep it that way.
As I've posted before, it's my bird sanctuary. Or wildlife sanctuary.
I have a little Mourning Dove in my 35 year old Appletree. I'll take a pic of her in the morning.

I built a squirrel box a few years ago. Squirrels moved right in. Only they didn't know I installed a $25 web cam. It worked really well for a few years until they chewed through the cord. I only uses a telephone cable for the cord, so one of these days I'll go up there and change it. It looks identical to your box.
