The Final (Ballpark) Solution: Does the Metrodome Roof Contain a Giant Swastika?

I often attend Twins games and noted the swastika-like pattern years ago, but I was just never paranoid enough to realize that it was part of a Nazi plot!

The guy with the swastikadome website seems a little "out of touch", imo.

Uhm, hold on a sec there. A website like stormfront.org is protected by the first amendment whereas an accidental depiction (doesn't look intentional to me personally, that is) of a swastika on the roof of a ballpark is an outrage? This dude needs to have his head examined. Thoroughly.

i have always thought those vendors trying to sell you a $4 bottle of pop or $6 glass of beer were kind of like nazis

Oh no, the creators of Unicode are Nazis because they included characters like U+534D (卍)!

People seriously need to get off this whole swastika thing. The character existed for centuries before even Germany itself.

I might be wrong but I think the swastika dates back the ancient Egypt. Ironically back then it had good connotations. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

Not that I would vouch for every single detail to be 100% correct but the wikipedia entry for "swastika" does provide some background info.

The floor-tiles in the local supermarket here have a swastika-pattern. So does this Microsoft advertisement:

doesn't the character actually mean Temple? Maybe the Metrodome is the Temple of baseball and football.

But that's the good swastika. The bad one faces the other way.

According to Unihan:
kDefinition swastika, one of the auspicious signs recognized (e.g. in Chinese Tathagata Buddhism) as being on the chest of Buddha (and variously seen in statuary on the chest, soles of the feet, or palms of the hands)
In Japan it's often used to mark the locations of temples on maps, and has some other uses within Buddhism as well.

According to 広辞苑, the big-name Japanese-Japanese dictionary, the word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit word "svastika," which originally indicated the swirly hairs on Buddha's chest. The main mearning is "filled with charity/virtue." And in Japanese they don't really distinguish between 卍 and its reverse.
