Anyone catch it? Damn good episode..... all the way until the very end...
Not sure what the hell that visit to the jail was all about.
It was pure Quintin T. though. Especially that part where Stokes and Warrick was just shooting the bull in the locker room.
By far the best CSI of the them all.

I don't get to see it until it comes out on DVD. Damn. Just saw the first episode of season 5 last night. ARRRGHHHH!
Anyway, saw an interview with the actor who plays Nick. He says the locker scene originally came off as kinda stilted so somone told Quentin that they needed a Royale with Cheese moment, so QT took a 10-minute break and came back with the written scene based on a conversation he had with a friend.

I only caught the last bit (bummed) but I gotta say, if those explosives on the casket was supposed to be 3 bars of symtex, that explosion was about 1/10 of what would happen in real life.

Lesson learned: Fire Ants SUCK!!!
All in all, I was kinda let down and wasn't really "wow'd" by the finale. For all the commotion about this episode, It kinda sucked in comparisson to other episodes.

an Australian on MacNN can get years ahead in TV. I can almost determine what shows I should get into the year before they start here!
We've only had about 5 episodes of it!

I saw it, it was pretty good. Tarantino seems to like burying people alive
I thought Nick's hallucination/vision of being dead on the autopsy table while the coroners picked him apart was a nice touch.
And I also thought that two bars of symtex probably would've done a bit more than blow up the guy and leave the building and Grissom in tact.

It was an awesome season finale. An action pack two hours, full of suspense. Definitely the stamp of Quintin T.

So I'm in the minority here. I laughed my ass off when pops detonated his bad ol' self, but other than that, I thought it became tiresome towards the end. And wtf with the pressure switches on the casket? What was the whole yank the CSI guy out at the same time as you put the dirt in, other than pointless dramatics? They could have tossed a bunch of dirt in the casket, well over the weight of the CSI guy, then had him climb out. Overloading the casket with dirt could not have triggered the explosives because the casket had at least 2 yards (54 cu ft) of dirt placing pressure on it (and accordingly, the devices underneath it), while it was buried. Silly theatrics. That and the fire ants thing (while it was cool that Grissom used the fire ants to figure out where CSI guy was buried) was too much for me. Just seemed like trying to make the situation really really scary. Oooo! Buried alive! Scary! Ooooo! Buried alive with cranky ants! Really really scary! Feh. It actually was one of the less captivating episodes I've seen.

Don't forget inane dialog, long camera pauses, and a 30 minute plot dragged out to 2 hours.

Don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed some of his work.
- Kill Bill I & II
- Desperado
- Pulp Fiction
But, when he delves into Television shows, his over the top style just overshaddows the story.
Look what he did in 'ALIAS'.. it became far too violent, and the story takes a back seat.

BTW Desperado was directed by Roberto Rodriguez.
I really enjoyed it. Yeah the plot is big, it's TV not a movie. It was a very good episode and you could feel QT influence all over. He has the balls to parody himself and pull it off nicely.

He played a small part in it, but it's Rodriguez all the way.

Aside from "El Mariachi" That's all he has done worth watching, unless you like "Spy Kids"...and "From Dusk til Dawn" which was very campy, and almost good.

Sin City
and
Once Upon a Time in Mexico was cool.
Robert Rodriguez is cool. in a way i like directors like him. he's having fun, he's not hyped till my bunghole hurts, takes risks like spy kids and the sharkboy thing coming out.

I didn't see "Sin City" but heard it was way over the top in violence and blood.
I missed listing "Once upon a time in Mexico". That was cool.

I wasn't all that impressed either. It was OK, but it seemed very slow to me in parts. It seemed it needed to be compressed by about 30 minutes.
I'm a big fan of Tarantino's work, but this one just didn't do it for me.
However, it did look damn nice in Hi-Def though.
