Ok, I've got a bunch because I grew up in the golden age of TV. But I'll just mention 1: Cheers. Whenever I hear that theme I just feel happy and safe. I don't know what it is, just a conditioned response, I guess.

http://www.headwindow.com/cheers/

What TV theme makes you feel something?
Do you want forgiveness or respect?

The themes to reality shows make me feel angry. That said, I've never watched any of them, so I don't really know the themes, but if I did, they'd piss me off for sure.

Cheers is definitely a great one.

For a pure emotional response I go with Twin Peaks.

Barney Miller-- Badass bass line at the beginning.

Hawaii 5-0. Badass drums at the beginning.

Gilligan's Island, for the hilarious lyrics.

Wonderfalls' theme song was written by Andy Partidge of XTC, but the show got cancelled after what, 4 episodes?

cheers is a good one. other then that just themes that remind me of my childhood...Doctor Who, Saved by the Bell, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Garfield & Friends, and many other cartoons. oh and i have always liked the little house on the prairie theme song (yeah i know that is kind of gay)

"I'm for anything that gets you through the night, be it prayer, tranquilizers, or a bottle of Jack Daniel's."

The Greatest American Hero theme song was awesome.

Believe it or not - by Joey Scarbury

Look at what's happened to me,
I can't believe it myself.
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world,
should have been somebody else.

Believe it or not, I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Looks like the light of a new day,
Hit me from out of the blue.
Breaking me out of the spell I was in,
Making all of my wishes come true.

Believe it or not, I'm walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free.
Flying away on a wing and a prayer,
Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

Who could it be?
Believe it or not, it's just me.

A-Team, 21 Jump Street, Air Wolf, Punky Bruster, Booker, St Elsewhere are all that bring up emotions of the good old days.

The Sesame Street theme song is great, reminds me of when I was little. Same with that song Mr. Rogers sang (even though it was incredibly sappy).

Did I not read this thread thoroughly enough, or did no one mention Family Ties and Dynasty yet?

If ever two TV show themes could make me feel like a little kid again, it's those two.

Also, every time I hear the theme for Roseanne, I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside

Even the Neigbours theme triggers a reaction (I used to watch it when I was about 10 or so). And if we go even further back in time, back to when I was four or five or thereabouts, there can be only one: Bamses Billedbog.

Rockford Files?
Jetsons?
George of the Jungle?
Addams Family?

Especially the 1st season - that was the best version of it, IMO. I love the first few bars where the instruments are each doing their solos, waiting for the drums to enter.

There's a full-length jazz-band version of the Fraiser theme that's pretty good. I also kinda like Mad About You's theme.

Then there's The Critic, The Sopranos, Family Guy...all kinds of good theme music out there.

I thougt the only difference was Danny Masterson screaming at the end instead of the group who perform the song?

I used to feel a weird, deep, quasi-nostalgia from the Twin Peaks opening theme.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

They also transposed it down a few notches and changed the guitar riffs. The guitar used to have this up-the-scale motion, the new one is this up-and-down motion that doesn't work as well as the original. It lost a lot of its energy.

The Facts of Life
Beverly Hillbillies
The Brady Bunch
Andy Griffith Show This one always makes me want to go fishing with my dad.
Doogie Howser MD
The Flinestones
Growing Pains I think this is the theme brapper was trying to link to.
Golden Girls For all you closet fans out there. I know there's a lot of them on this board.

Also the new one is by Cheap Trick, based on the original song by Big Star. While season one theme was performed by Todd Griffin. I much prefer Griffin's version.

It's hard to say these theme songs "affected me," but they're still great TV themes:

MacGyver
L.A. Law
Futurama
World News Tonight with Peter Jennings
Mr. Belvedere
24 (hey, it's right to the point)
Inspector Gadget
Doogie Howser M.D.

Millennium's theme was moving with the visual accompaniment.

Quantum Leap was punchy and fun...got you excited for the episode.
