Other than being a consultant, or working for a big advertising company, where ARE the jobs if you have Apple ACHDS Certs and want to support the Macintosh platform??

I live in Virginia, West of DC, and the Mac related jobs are as scarce as hens teeth!

If you work in a large company that has both Mac's and PC's you are treated as second class because most of the workers are slaving away on PC's and even most IT departments don't have a clue. Perhaps I need to do something else, like videotape weddings and produce them onto iDVD using iMovie or somesuch?

Be a wedding videographer, or get your MCSE and work on PCs. Ack. I'd rather video weddings

I know many of my posts come across as being smarta ssed, and it is because I'm usually p issed off most of the time, but in all seriousness.

I actually just interviewed with Apple to be a Mac Genius. Will be getting a call about it in a few days I should think. Wish me luck.

Try, try, try working for Apple... go on their site and get the jobs emailed to you.
Go to the stores and get to know the managers. Let them know you are interested.
Ask for the job!

As a fresh grad, I applied for the Mac Specialist- Full Time at my local Apple Store. I bet Apple wants people in the 30 or above and/or more experience. Everytime I walked into the local Apple Store, I didn't bother to ask the staffs since they were not helping at all.

Meanwhile, I applied for a Mac consultant position in the Seattle area. I'll see.

Oooooo nifty. I'm looking for a Mac job in the Seattle area. I'll have to keep my eye on that company.

Did you apply for any Apple Store jobs in the Seattle area?

Whaaa? I just did a Monster search a few days ago and there were quite a number of Mac jobs in the DC/NoVA area, and that's not including the Apple Store jobs.

Just today I got a response to my monster.com profile from a company in Bethesda seeking a Mac guy. I don't think Mac jobs are that scarce around here.

Well, Sterling VA is a ways from Bethesda, MD. I don't see THAT MANY JOB's in Western Fairfax County, or Loudoun County. Waaay too many dolts are using PC's and wasting bucks trying to stay running. heaven forbid a Senior IT management type might have been wrong on those financial projections.

I wish you well in your job search. You may need to move.

Get past Maryland beeing too far away. Look at NIH. There are quite a few mac jobs that pop up from time to time there.

Look also at Gannett (the USA today poeple). They are a pretty big Mac shop as well.

Finally, if you are bold, try hitting up some sales people at the reston office. Ask them who they are selling to these days. Hit them early in the month- not when they are scrambling to hit quota. As for how to find out who they are and get in contact with them... be creative.

Paco is bitter about the loss of his .mac webpage. Image will return when his sadness lessens.

Maybe if you'd look for Macs rather than Mac's you'd have more luck.....
