So it's only for one father instead of more than one? It sure seems like a holiday for all the dads, so I can't see how it could be singular. What's your evidence?

Sorry, I need historical or linguistic/grammatical proof. Apple Computer's iCal files are hardly the arbiters for such things — they're chock-full of errors.

Interesting, but hardly convincing. "Fathers' Day" won the Google fight, but I'm still not sure that's right.

Haha, you aren't going to find a "correct" answer. Plus, if you read it on the Internet, is it automatically true? Go to Hallmark and see what the majority of the cards read...

Or is it just Fathers Day, a day celebrating fathers? This was a big deal in Minneapolis when the University of Minnesota had to decide whether to name a particular walkway the Scholars' Walk or the Scholars Walk - Scholars Walk ended up winning, mostly because they didn't want the apostrophe on signs or something arbitrary like that.

Father's Day

Said person is celebrating their father. It is their day. So when you write it to your dad, that is the correct use.

Fathers' Day Event/Weekend/Etc

Said persons are celebrating an event that is holding some special recognition to all fathers in attendance.

Same works for Mother's Day.

I believe "Fathers Day" is correct. The usage isn't possessive because it is not your Father's day, or all Fathers' day, because its the name of a day. Same reason it's capitalized.
-"I don't believe in God. "
"That doesn't matter. He believes in you."

-"I'm not agnostic. Just nonpartisan. Theological Switzerland, that's me."

Are we going to have an "its" vs "it's" argument like the AI nerds are having at the moment?
