And as expected, I got the usual "Ooooo!" "Aaah!" and "I CAN'T DO THAT ON WINDOWS!!!"

Almost all the people there were getting the Dell laptops (but there for training anyway) commented throughout the presentation "How do I switch my order from the Dell to the iBook?"

Unfortunately, I had to tell them that the orders have already been placed.

Quite a few people came up afterwards and said they didn't know that the Mac had changed so much or they would've bought one years ago. The last time they had used a Mac was with System 7! Wow.

The biggest seller was the instant searching with Spotlight inside their mail box, then making a Smart Folder sorted by Date for up to 2 Weeks ago and placing it in a Burn Folder.

Kinda felt like Steve for a few hours. They almost broke out into applause a few times.

Next month is the iBook training. I get to cover how to use it, maintain it, and will actually get into a few of the iApps. Should be fun.

How are you planning on presenting this information? PowerPoint slides? If so, I'd love to see the presentation when you are done with it.

The previous District Technology Coordinator was a Windows freak and as anti-Mac as you could get. When he took his position he forced all teachers and staff to give up their Macs. Some of the schools in the District were all Mac, but he came through and took 'em all out. Installed Windows PCs everywhere.

One of the newer faculty who has a joint position with Cisco teaching CCNA prep courses at the High Schools accused the DTC guy of being incompetent and hindering the students and staff by forcing them to rely on one platform instead of being able to use whatever tools best fit the job.

So she eventually convinced the board to remove the DTC and hire someone else.

However, since it was a good 9 years before the Cisco teacher came around and got rid of the guy, no one has had a Mac since the Classic days. Suddenly tons of people ordered Macs. This year we had well over 30 new iBooks ordered and they're all coming with OS X Tiger. Since quite a few them haven't used a Mac since System 7, it was pretty important to get them up to speed.

You can download my PDF I made if you want some pointers. I'm making a new version cuz this first draft I made in a single day and I left out so much stuff. It's also just sort of a guide, my presentation was a little more in-depth. I can also send you the original Illustrator documents. Screenshots might be handy for your own manual so you don't have to retake them.

Probably, or a PDF presentation. If I can get my hands on it, I really wanna use Keynote so I can wow them with some kickass 3D transitions.

This won't be until next month, I'll probably post another thread. You can ask me for it again then cuz I certainly won't remember.

Very nice! You should consider using Myriad Pro Semibold as your primary body font, though; Apple Garamond is *so* 2000!

I made the chrome Apple.

I didn't get the little leaf right cuz I didn't have a stylus and did it in Photoshop instead of Illustrator (thinking back on it, should've done it in Illustrator.) But I thought it turned out pretty close the chrome Apple in the About Box.

Ugh. I just noticed the URL to OS X features is spelled wrong and doesn't work.

Suppose to be /newfeatures but it's just /features.

Oops.

If you have Tiger you should have gotten an iWork demo disk in the box.

That said, Keynote is amazing you should most definitely get a copy and do it up for em. I'm doing our youth group grad photo slideshow in keynote tonight, I wowed the pastors with the superb transitions

Can't iPhoto do that too?
