And how many of those do you use?

I have Hotmail, Yahoo, .mac and just got a Gmail. .mac and Hotmail are the ones I mainly use, my Yahoo isn't doing anything but I got it as part of the BT Yahoo Broadband.

If I could put these accounts into OS X Mail I'd be sorted though, I'd rather have that than web based email, does anyone know if this can be done?

Multiple business accounts (personal business as well as general corporate addresses that I manage), .Mac, Yahoo, Gmail. . . I'm going to eventually transition from .Mac to one of my personal domains, probably in the next decade some time.

I've been meaning to pose the following question to the Lounge: With the proliferation of personal and professional addresses, how can we possibly manage the constant barrage?

Poll?

I think I have 10+ nowadays. They all serve a purpose, though I only really care about four of them.

.Mac (personal)
work
gmail x 2 (one for Internet stuff such as this forum), another I'm just using to keep older emails at (wanted the domain name) For these, I have them set to forward all email to my .Mac so I can access them via Mail.app.
hotmail (don't use anymore)
yahoo (don't use anymore)

I HATE hotmail. A couple months ago I neglected to check my mail in that account for a little over a month and I end up losing several years of old messages. I had been meaning to back them up somewhere but they're just...gone. I nearly cried.

So: laposte, free.fr, gmail, yahoo and perhaps my own domain's soon if I feel like setting that up.

Poll? Well if I knew how to make a poll in a thread thats already started, i would make one now. But i just went to edit my first post, and there isn't a poll option . I was here thinking my 4 emails were excessive, but after reading these, I feel better now .

A few months ago, I bit the bullet and forwarded all of the mail I had saved in the hotmail account to my gmail account.

Hey chris_V and turtle! Edit those "email penis" posts so that people can look at this thread on a single monitor!!!! Bad posters! No cookies for you! Edit: Ok, that's better! Cookies are approved!

I have a few addresses.

Main ISP (with the option of up to five "child" addresses)
Yahoo
MSN/Hotmail (because I needed a "Passport," not because I use the darn thing!)
3 at Mail.com for disposability
1 at the university
1 at the community college (and I'm not even registered there yet!)

I used to have a work address too, but I'm retired now, so I don't anymore. I am SO glad of that! That address was nothing but trouble for me!

Yup. Since it's digital anyway, you can think of it as being converted to packets for transport to some destination, rather than "dismemberment." And you can take that word any way you want to!

(Your and chris_v's posts make this thread about 15 times too wide for at least Firefox users, and probably others too. Cute, but kind of excessive.)

Edit: Thanks for fixing that. I don't know why, but those long lines of hyphens made things weird for some of us!

School, .mac, Gmail.
I just ditched hotmail and Spymac for good, and I ahve an excite account from way back when that gets about 100 spam messages a day. I use it when I need to use an email address, but I dont fully trust the company with my privacy.

Huh. It wrapped fine for me in Safari. I double-checked, then read the thread again a couple times. Worked fine on my end. Sorry 'bout that.
