"People sort of picked on us for not prematurely jumping into online or internet gaming," he mused, going on to point out that now the company has more to offer besides online gaming. Harrison then confirmed that past-gen, Nintendo-created titles will indeed be downloadable for free."

Niiice. Sure I have emulators but:

a) I like playing console games on a TV, with controller. That's possible on a computer but too much effort for me.
b) Some games are harder to find online than others.
c) Multiplayer is tricky on a computer
d) Some games don't work well under emulation

Sure I skipped this generation of consoles, but I will be getting me a Rev.

EDIT: e) N64 emulators for Mac really really suck.

I wonder if all the titles will be released when the Revolution goes on sale. I wonder if they will be released with 6 month separation between them. I wonder if Microsoft and Sony will copycat, since it is 100% possible for them too.

I highly doubt they are talking about N64 games. If anything it will be classic Nintendo and Super Nintendo games.

It's good that they are free, since they've already figured out a way to make me pay for most of them three times.

What makes you say that? We already know it's possible to port and/or emulate N64 games on the GameCube without much trouble: Ocarina of Time and OoT:Master Quest proved that. If the GameCube can do it, why not the Revolution? The only justification I could see would be in cases where this would interfere with the DS ports, but there aren't many of these.

i watched the e3 nintendo conference and i am sure they mentioned the n64.

engadget.com has a page that got updated for people not watching the conference.

No kidding. I had more fun on my SNES than any other system. Heck, if it worked anymore, I'd probably still play it more than my Xbox.

growing up in south africa, it was not all that easy to get a snes, a sega genesis was much cheaper and easier to find.
i knew one shop that sold snes stuff, but they were expensive.

MS and sony have very little of interest to download first party wise. You can bet any 3rd party games will cost money.

Unknown. Although Rare does own banjo, its possible Rare couldnt do anything about the giving away of Banjo as a classic title, given they were under contract by nintendo at the time. I would think not, but then again I dont know the exact specifics of Nintendo's deal with MS/Rare and neither do you.

I still have all my old Nintendo Systems and games. After getting the newer systems I never wanted to play the old ones again.

I don't think Sony and MS will give a **** as they know people are more interested in playing new games than 20 year old ones.

While this thread is obviously not a large enough sample to tell anything, it seems that there are a decent amount of people exicted by this. There are also lots of people who don't have their NES, SNES, etc., anymore, or who only had friends with them, that would probably like this. Despite having emulators, myself, and old systems, I'd love to be able to download a host of old classic games for free. I'm sure there are people who have forgotten or lost some of their favourite games and would say, "I can download _____ for free? That's awesome!" The potential lies in the ability for the system to play not just the games that will come out for Revolution, but the ability to play those in addition to their current Gameube games and a slew of free classic titles. On top of that, we still don't know anything about this controller that's supposed to be so revolutionary.

I think the only reason they are excited about it is because there is NOTHING else about the NR to get excited about. Seriously.

How about a specs, controller, final hardware, game title or release date. Or is that asking to much?

OK, I'm buying this Well when it comes out. I've wanted a GC for a while but have held off since I don't have enough time to play and junk... but by the time this comes out I should be in an actual ministry job... and what better thing to do when your youth group is bored cause it's raining or you're snowed in... play old SNES games... and woop em good!

I had an awesome time at a winter retreat slugging it out with one of my kids playing Tetris Attack... the kid was FREAKING AMAZING... I thought I was good, he creamed me, and I have little to know trouble passing the game on the hardest level.

Personally, I'm interested in playing good games. And newer does not mean better. I mean, geez, the Final Fantasy series has fallen into a spiral of suck ever since it left Nintendo, with not a single game since then measuring up to FF6.

Maybe the specs haven't been finalised. Maybe they still think they have work to do on the controller. Maybe the specs haven't been finalised. Maybe they think they have work to do on the control oh, I said that one. Maybe they just started working on the games. Maybe they don't know the exact date of release. So yeah, maybe it is too much to ask.

What are next weeks lottery numbers?

Unfortunately, my Nintendo got to the point where I couldn't turn it on without using the Game Genie.
