I'm going to headed off to grad school in the fall and want to change my setup. I'll be using this for graphic design and class notes, etc.

Currently, I just have a 17" PB. I'm planning to sell that, get a 15" and a 20" display...

OR... I could get a 20" iMac and use that as my display for my PB. Can you even do this?

Which would you do? If it's possible, the question is 20" display or 20" iMac?

Would it be silly to get an iMac when I might want a tower somewhere down the road?

I figure the iMac would allow me a little more power than the PB if I needed it.

(If this is supposed to be elsewhere, please move- it covered different things so I wasn't sure.)

i would go with your 1st sugestion
and sell the 17" and get a 15" and and a 20" display
getting a imac would just be a waste of money if you plan to get a tower sometime down the road

I should point out that I will have the 15" PB either way.
And I don't plan to get a tower later- but I might want one.

As far as I know you can't use an iMac as a Powerbook display. So that counts that one out. Maybe if you keep your 17" you could go for a 23" as an external screen?

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

dell 2005fpw. Since you're not buying today, research the prices and watch for a good deal.

I'll second that you can't input into the iMac's display...
