Detroit lost the critical Game 5 of the Finals tonight because they left Robert Horry alone and doubled Manu Ginobili. Haven't teams learned by now that you must never leave Horry open for three, especially at the end of the game? I realize it's proabably much easier said than done, but it remains a mystery to me.

Before the TO, I'm thinking, "No threes." And then, as I was watching, everything began to move in slow-motion, and the Pistons TRAP GINOBLI ON THE SIDELINE--LEAVING HORRY WIDE OPEN!!!!

AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

*swish*

Horry did save Duncan's bacon. Tim had a choke-worthy fourth quarter and OT. I like him a lot, but TD has got to get a killer instinct.

Not no more he don't. Now he's getting another championship even with two bum ankles and a mere-mortal performance because his team is markedly better now. It's too bad. I was really rooting for Detroit b/c I love Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton. Rasheed's a jerk but a good player. Ben Wallace is da man.

TD could've iced the game in the fourth by hitting half of his free throws or not coming up short on the put back right before time expired. Again, I like the Big Fundamental a lot, but if Horry did not make that three, he would've been ESPN.com's Goat of the Game.

Tim has killer instinct—he just had a "bad" game. I'll never forget that shot he hit falling down against the Lakers years ago.

Leaving Horry open is stupid, but tonight he would've burned them regardless. That dunk earlier was even more impressive!

True.

He had a good game, though: 24 points, 19 boards, but 4-11 at the line.

That's why I used quotation marks. It was a bad game for a player of his caliber. He's only human, of course.

Yikes. In my post-game despair, I didn't see those.

I don't remember exactly, but just one or two plays before Horry hit that 3, Rasheed had stayed with him instead doubling Ginobili. I guess Rasheed thought Ginobili had Prince beat and decided to go help. I think this isn't entirely Rasheed's fault because if someone else had rotated to cover Horry, instead of Prince trying get back to him, Horry would not have been as open, if open at all. Just like individual players don't win games, individuals don't lose games either.

Having said that, I love Horry and am very happy for him. I was not surprised at all at him having that type of 4th quarter. He has truly earned his six championships

Years ago? You mean last year's lucky shot? The one right before Fisher's lucky shot?

That was last year? Wow. I rarely watch the NBA nowadays, so I guess everything runs together for me.

"Lucky"? As they say, talent attracts luck.

robert horry is pretty much a stud under pressure, why he is ever left open in any late game situation is beyound me.
