I don't want anti SUV tree-huggers responding to this, only serious SUV lovers.

Are Hummers any good? I'm going to schedule a test drive of the new H3 and would love to hear people's experiences with Hummers. No, not those. The SUV's!!! Pervs...

Hummer's quality rating has increased dramatically in the past year. However, that's not saying much since they were on the bottom of the scale in terms of quality a little more than a year ago.

Personally, I thought the H3 looked a lot like a Jeep Grand Cherokee when I passed a couple of them on my way to work Friday. Same shape of grill and similar overall feel.

I haven't driven one, nor have I looked at one up close yet.

I wish Hummer would have come out with this model instead of the H2 initially. The H2 seemed like overkill since GM already had the Escalade and the Denali. Too many high-end oversized SUVs.

I wonder what kind of gas mileage the 3.5L would get in the H3.

H3. The Hummer pussified.

It makes as little sense as a Barbie themed Jeep.

Well, 29k is a bit more in my neighborhood for cash. I wish I could get a H2, but I would have to get a mortgage for one of those.

You will have to get the mortgage for the gas alone.

Bah. No interest in the H3. About a year ago, in a JD Power survey ranked owner satisfaction, the H2 ranked the absolute worst. So if the owners -- people who shelled out the big bucks for prestige -- don't like them, they've got real problems.

I'm VERY anxious to see the new Toyota SUV, the FJ Cruiser. This car will be priced below the est. H3, looks cool and was designed by Toyota to be a real SUV. I've even started my own website in anticipation of FJ Cruiser.

Check out the gallery and tell me if you don't think this car has more flair and functionality than the H3.

What "gallery?"

Didn't see one.

Get a Chevrolet Suburban, LE, like we have. LOVE IT. It has the same exact motor as the Hummer.

Buy a Trailblazer; same chassis, etc. The only difference is the shape of the box on top of the frame.

I don't think the H3 is going to sell well. People who buy Hummers generally have that "I need the biggest car on the road" kind of mentality, and this SUV clearly falls short in that category. There are far better SUVs to be had for the same money. Plus, they'll probably get made fun of by 'real' Hummer owners.

I cannot believe that anyone actually thinks there's any connection between Hummers and the military vehicle other than some cosmetics. Hummers are just trucks-down to the solid rear axle that makes handling and ride as rough as a truck-while the military vehicle has a surprisingly smooth ride thanks to its four wheel independent suspension. It gets better milage than the Hummer H2, too!

I think the only thing the H3 has over the H2 is that it can almost fit in a normal parking spot-if the driver actually tries, anyway.

Suburdans look like crap though. When was the last time they got a body upgrade? Not to mention the crappy interior.

Anyone ever drive a 2005 Nissan Armada? It has about 20 less horsepower(more torque though) than the 6L surbuban but its also has a gross weight thats 1500lbs less. It also has a nice looking interior.

For once I agree with KarlG. But I would go for the V-8 version of the Trailblazer.

How many think the Escalade is too overpriced? I mean the "box" style is just a Suburban with bling, and the "pickup" style looks like an Avalanche, but with bling. And has anyone EVER seen an Escalade anywhere offroad? I doubt there are as many such sightings as valid bigfoot sightings. You'll NEVER see an Escalade with a "If you can read this, flip me over" sticker, because they're just BIG stationwagons with huge pricetags. Shouldn't "SUV" refer to something that might be used offroad and/or to haul stuff?

For me all these hummers I see on the roads are sissy hummers. If I was going to get a hummer I'd want one with a gun turret mounted on the back. I mean, anything else would be uncivilized. Plus you could really cut through traffic in that thing.

You mean people who don't give a **** about the environment or care about anyone else and believe that bigger=safer despite factual information that proves just the opposite?

Oh, I'm sure you'll find a lot of those ****ing idiots around here. They won't use signals either.

Noooo. Can't be. I vehicle built to evade the gas guzzling tax by making it weigh just a tad over the limit for regulations can't possibly be overkill, and I don't know what you're talking about but I never see any large luxury SUVs around....

YAEH BUT WE NEED EM FOR FLOODIN IN FLORIDA CUZ WITHOUT ONE WED ALL DIE AND SO THERE I NEED ONE!

SUV refers to incompetent vehicles marketed towards stupid people with ego problems who're easily persueded into thinking that an unsafe vehicle is safer, poor handling doesn't matter because it 'all boils down to the driver', and have mental issues about being more important or bigger than everyone else.

Yeah I'd NEED one if I lived in Florida. I mean dang they flood all the time and sometimes I could use the turret to take care of hurricanes or something! I 'need' one!

I'm anything but a hippie. I like fast cars and I think that using oil is fine if used intelligently, but there's a huge difference between being conscious about conservation and recycling, versus abusing the environment by driving a pointless dangerous excessmobile or being over-protective and not using anything.

The new FJ Crusier gets a lot of its styling cues from the original Toyota FJ40, one of the first commercial cars Toyota every marketed in the U.S. The original FJ40 was a marvel, and I think the new Cruiser is a worthy update to its legacy. Tastes are subjective, but either way, you better get used to it. Two years from now you'll see one of these for every 10 hummers.

Is a hummer... all else is a waste of money (IMO of course).

I remember when you can get one of these for like $50K. Too bad I was in high school then...

Well Cody already has her Suburban and even if thru some miracle of persuasion you convinced her to get rid of it, it would just be sold to someone else who would drive it. The best you can do is show her the safety statistics and hope that she takes them into consideration when buying her next vehicle. You could even offer her some more environment friendly alternatives that still meet her occupant capacity needs, if you're that concerned about it.
