Microsoft has this kind of technology, e.g.from Flight Simulator, right? And yet. This is great, if they get more local details (stores and the like), add elevation data, and have higher resolution satellite photos. Dreaming, I'd like to see it extensible, so third-party developers could use this program for geographical data and rendering, but with specialized interfaces for different applications. Google could still make a profit from advertising.

My sister is going to school at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. Here's the coordinates, can anyone confirm if this is the school?

Google has disabled download for the free version of Google Earth. Bummer. Really wanted to give it a spin, even though it is only for the peecee.

One other thing? If GE is in beta, why would I want to pay for the "plus" version? or is it that only the free version is in beta?

Downloadable again, though still no Macintosh version. Too bad, I find this the single most interesting application since Netscape... :>

(but we are working on it).
Yeah yeah, we see that all the time all over . Teamspeak is one that sticks out in my mind. They have been 'working on it" for over 2-3 years now.

Yes, but Google seems to mean it when they say they're working on Mac versions...

When Google Maps first came out it wasn't Safari compatible, but they fixed it.

In this case, they acquired another company (GlobalXplorer, I believe), and just rebranded their PC only product as their initial version. At least with Google, we have a chance of seeing the app on a Mac.

I agree- this is one of the coolest apps I have ever seen. We NEED a mac version. If google was smart, they would allow advertising (ala google map pointers on the maps), that stores could buy to draw attention to their business.

Integrated with google maps/directions and gmail, this is TOO cool.

They do. You can tick options to mark the locations of ATMs, hotels, malls, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc.

Exactly like Terrabrowser, but about ten thousand times better. It's totally unreal. I work at the world biggest car company and everyone is using it all day instead of doing their work. It's going to cost the country billion$ in lost work hours.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.
