I have to agree with this. My sister and 3 of my friends all have samsung phones and they hate the phones with a passion. The battery life is total junk on them and they always crash or break in some manner.
"SEOUL, June 27 Asia Pulse - The Samsung Electronics Co., the world's third-largest producer of mobile phones, placed last for the second time in a week in terms of network quality of their cellular phones sold in the local market, a survey released Monday showed.
Samsung earned the dishonor of most-frustrating brand with 739 problems reported per 100 mobile phones it sold, according to the survey of 36,603 consumers by Seoul-based researcher Marketing Insight.
The industry average was 720 problems reported per 100 mobile phones, the researcher said.
U.S.-based Motorola Inc. topped the list with 603 problems reported per 100 phones, followed by SK Teletech Co.'s 677 and LG Electronics Inc.'s 713, it said.
Pantech Co. and its affiliate Curitel Communications Inc. came a joint fourth with 726 problems reported per 100 phones.
The survey result is seen as the second embarrassment for Samsung.
On Tuesday, Marketing Insight said Samsung was rated worst in a consumer satisfaction survey of camera phones.
South Korea has more than 37 million mobile phone subscribers out of its 48 million population, according to government data."

7.2 incidents per phone is the average ?
OMG, I must have been a lucky bastard all these years...

That switchblade one? Why man? I have a SE also and love it but that phone makes no sense to me since they announced the 750.

Odd, my Samsung is great. I've had no problems with it, and it's by far the best cell phone I've owned. Although I really like some of the new Motorolas that we've been getting for people in the company, and I think my next phone will probably be a moto.
My worst cell phone experiences have been with Sony Ericsons.

It's bad that samsung has these problems in the country of origins. I have a samsung A740 which has been an absolute great phone. On the other side I had a samsung A620 which was a horrid phone. The worst phone I ever had though was a sanyo 8200, went through five and they could only pick up an analog signal. I think that the numbers are too high for all the manufacturers but the more crap that gets packed in the phones the more problems the phones will have. I personally could care less about all the extras just give me a phone that can make calls.

If samsung sells 100 phones and has a 90% failure rate there will still be 10% of people saying "strange, my phone works great, no probs".
I can account for my Samsung 50" Projection TV that slowly rotted to hell over 8 months, Samsung sent it back worse.

It's funny seeing people's obsessions with cell phones.
Mine works. Does exactly what I expect it to do. I don't care what anyone else has.
You never would have seen such a discussion about phones when I was growing up. "Man, my Bell rotary dial phone is so much faster at spinning than my friend Beth's AT&T rotary dial phone. I can dial the four numbers in only a minute and it takes her 2 minutes. Why would she want to own that piece of crap?"

That's true, but it seems unlikely that most of my friends would also be in the 10%. Pretty much everyone I know who has a Samsung likes it. Especially the ones that have the same phone as me (the a670). My only complaint is the lack of Bluetooth.

Well like I said the 3 people I know with it all hate the hell out of it. So what can we do? Take a survey.... and they failed miserably.

I hated my Samsung SG427. It sounded bad, the menu system sucked, and it took a special, Windows-only program to sync my phone book on it-if you could call that syncing. That phone is a huge loser in my book. I switched to a Motorola V180, and all is well.
By the way, I've had Motorolas since the "flipless flip-phone," and never had an issue with them. I had an Erikson once, and it was sweet too-just no flip, and I'm a big flip fan. If Motorola had managed to get the GSM version of the v60 out earlier, I'd have gone for that.

Oh well, I guess I should just chalk it up to my strange ability to make electronics products work properly through my mere presence. (I'm serious, people come to me with computer problems and as soon as I walk into the room the problem just goes away. It's a great skill for an IT guy. )

"Laying hands on" computers is both a gift and a curse-especially when laying hands on it doesn't fix the box! Been there, done that a lot. No shirt, too cheap.

Yeah, but it's great for the reputation when it does work.

It is because cellphones have to do more and be more durable than some old phone on your desk. You don't usually drop it, it isn't miniaturized nor does it have text messaging or a battery.

If Samsung makes last place in cell phone quality, that can only mean they didn't test Sagem.

No, because it's a phone. A simple small consumer device meant to make calls. It isn't a complex device nor is it anything new or special. You guys act like it's the end all be all of who you are.

What is your obsession with us wanting quality in products we buy?
Or are you just being stupid for attention?

I had a Sagem cell phone back when I used to live in Germany... it was on the D2 network. That thing crapped on me in less than a week... Stanging ontop of my balcony (3rd Floor) I threw it. Total POS... I moved to the D1(now T-Mobile) Network with the Nokia 3300.

Sounds like a Sony Ericsson I had in China (don't remember the model, though I can check once I get home). Consistently got less reception than any other phone in the same location, occasionally got none at all. The build quality was so bad that when it was set to vibrate the vibrations would sometimes cause the wiring to shake loose and the vibrator to stop working until I somehow randomly managed to bump it back.
Battery life was pretty good though.

Yep. My Samsung phone died in a year, and it's replacement had a problem with battery life. My friend's Samsung (same model) also died a premature death. My Sanyo 8200 has survived a couple drops and appears to be going strong but the speakerphone quality is not so good.
