OK, in light of the fact that development on phpBB2.2 now named phpBB 3 has taken FOREVER, and still isn't out (I believe they said it'd be out in march and then pushed that back to whenever the heck we feel like it...). I'm prone to wonder... how on earth could a forum script take that long to develop!?

Sadly it's the only really good php forum script that I've seen that I found fairly easy to edit/change etc.

Anyone else run a phpBB forum? If you run one and don't use it what do you use?

Well... apparently I screwed up the poll some how...

I run and develop templates for phpBB.

And I Think Longhorn will be out before Olympus.

Flagship products from companies take time. Though it may be frustrating, we've really got nothing to complain about-- we get a great, quality product, with online support for free. Patience- it will eventually come out. Meanwhile, the current version is pretty good.

I don't use phpBB. I've found it to have quite a few security holes, etc. that you can't afford to have on a popular website.

vBulletin (the same as MacNN) is what I use on my forums. Speedy, great support, and not too expensive.

Hmmm, MOSR last reported it was changing to Windows XP SP3a1.

Both Longhorn and PHPBB3 will be released on the same day, along with the Indrema Phantom console, which will have Duke Nukem Forever as its flagship launch title.

That's the key: free. Great product for the price though.

Anyway, I use phpBB and find it easy to manage. Then again, there are only something like 3 users and I'm one of them

At the same time the phpBB guys are really bad for making phpBB 3 sound as if it's just around the bend. They really should have just nailed down a solid feature set and stuck with that... my guess is they've rewritten the thing several times over by now.
