Last night at Circuit City, a salesman said it would be possible to use some kind of cable to allow a normal telelvision/DVD combo set to be used in the car (as opposed to a television set with an AC/DC adapter). He was not particularly forthcoming after that. Anyone know if this is possible, what kind of cable do you need and -- does it work well?

Thanks.

a regular tv for use within a car would require an ac/dc inverter which lets you plug in whatever you want so long as it doesn't exceed the inverter's wattage limit.

portable tv's can be powered using direct current (DC) and all you'd need would be a cable that connects the cigarette adapter to the tv, no conversion required.

What milhous said, plus the inverter is drawing power from your cranking battery. Keep that in mind while you're watching a movie in the middle of nowhere, especially if your car is an automatic
