Music Videos are clearly going to be the next big thing on iTunes Music Store, they are starting to offer them now but wait until the 5th Gen iPod, which will allow these to be played right on the iPod, that is when these Music Videos will explode and become the new standard of media. It will leavrage the power of H.264 and become another great revenue source for ITMS and the record labels. Labels will love this as it creates a revenue stream off something that is usually just a marketing expense.

Think how cool it is that you can hook your ipod up to any TV/Stereo for a full audio/visual experience!! They could even add ways for you to create your own edits of the videos.

Then once that is in full swing watch for Movies!!

You know I used to think that Apple would be doing video on iPod... but really my 333Mhz iMac can't even decode H.264, so I don't know how an iPod which normally has a what is it dual core 80Mhz proc is gona pull it off.

Perhaps a an onboard dedicated decoder but then it'd probably require a move to iPod and iPod video... I don't know if we'll see this.

meh. Videos are cool and all... but 90% of the time, my iPod's in my pocket or otherwise out of view.

And it's not like you're going to be watching a video while you're walking between buildings on your way to class.

And, if I was in a situation where I had to stay in one place and wait a long time (say, an airport), I'd just pull out my laptop and play the video fullscreen, so y'know... I can actually see it.

Aside from gimmick value, I don't see the point. It doesn't even have geek value.

I hate the idea of the iPod becoming the next cell phone (all in one WONDER® | music, video, camera, bla bla bla). If Apple wants to come out with an iPod Extreme with video, camera, etc. etc. or something as a new product I think it's marketing gold...

But keep the iPod simple.

I still think having a separate iPod product either based on the mini or the normal iPod with a built in quality digital camera would be a great marketing thing. I'd buy one as soon as I could.

It'd be cool if when you bought a movie from the iTMS, it downloaded two versions (in one): A HD or high res (for non-compatible Macs/PCs) version to play on your computer and a low-res H.264 version that didn't require huge CPU muscle that'd play on a iPod video (or a separate device).

We will have to wait and see how the negotiations turn out.

"Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense." Winston Churchill
