Pathetic, although it is great symbolism to show the world our penchant for gluttony and our "whatever I want, I get" culture.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Karl G-
But the guy who always wins is from Japan.
"He also holds records for eating 17.7 pounds of cow brains, 20 pounds of noodles and 20 pounds of rice balls."
I doubt those contests were American.

And yes, I love hot dogs Cody, but not that much.

what they do is called "competitive eating"

to eat 49, they train by stretching their stomachs

Unless you eat kosher hot dogs, how do you know that there aren't cow brains and noodles in there?

It's hard to get more kosher than Nathan's. Hebrew National is the only other brand I'm sure is kosher that I can think of right now.

I can remember when Michigan instituted more stringent meat packing standards than the USDA. It caused quite a ruckus, and a lot of meat packers sued the state. As the courts held, though, a state CAN have tougher standards, but not looser standards. You could tell the difference in taste between a Michigan hot dog and an Ohio or Ontario hot dog-right away!

Nowadays, we eat either turkey hot dogs or all-beef. Lately the all-beef dogs have been less fatty than hot dogs used to be, and that's a good thing.

But NO BLEEPING WAY am I going to hurt myself eating hot dogs! Just NO.

Michigan hot dogs are excellent. I refuse to eat hot dogs when I am out of the state or even hot dogs imported from out of the state.

The best:

Today being the slowest day I've ever worked (as a waiter) I was able to watch the whole thing on the big screen...
Um....interesting.
If I was in that comp I would dip my dogs in KY instead of water; they would go down a lot easier.

I guess we all missed something...substantial?

Anyway, I like hotdogs from Costco. They are Nathans. There, I've admitted one of my secret vices. (Shopping at Costco, not eating Nathans.)

I prefer this lady's 37...

Weighing in at just 99 pounds, Sonya Thomas is the competitive eating champion of the USA.

I haven't eaten hot dog in years. Never cared for the taste that much anyway.
