I wish you luck with the above suggestions SassyPants. Such a terrible thing to have happen.

if you don't try to turn it on when it is still wet you might be ok if you let it dry out fully.

Your phone is probably dead, nothing you can do about it.

The same exact thing happened to me. I was intoxicated, and I jumped in a swimming pool with my clothes on, and also my phone a while back.

The phone was 100% dead, and continued to be dead even days after it dried.

The solution was to buy a new phone.

Took my shower with it once (please don't ask).

It recovered fully 12 hours later.

I tripped and fell on a pier and watched my cell phone skitter across the dock and go "bloop" into the East River...

replaced it... had phone insurance.

What model do/did you have?

I know Moto. phones have a "water indicator" under the battery that is normally white... but if it comes in contact with water, it turns red. So you can't take it in and say "I don't know what happened to it?"

Make sure your new phone is iSync compatible:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/devices.html

Syncing makes switching a phone (whether you just get a new one or whether it is lost, stolen or damaged) a no issue since you have all the numbers on your Mac.

or get a SIM based phone. SIM cards are tough and easy to clean after getting wet. Only thing I hate about CDMA phones is the lack of a SIM card.

happened to me. My 18 month old had a fascination with throwing objects into the toilet. Including my cell phone. And my digital camera.

My cell went through a full wash cycle. I took it apart (as much as I could without tools), placed said parts on a forced air vent, and gave it a couple days.

Put it back together, turned it on.. No issues. Didn't even lose my numbers.

Couple years ago I got "drunk" and thought it would be a good idea to wash my Samsung phone.

Was screwed for a couple days but still works when I bother pulling it out (got a new one since).

My mother just deposited her phone into the pool, too. She took it (and the replacement cost) better than I would have if the same thing were to happen to me. Of course, we all occasionally do things to our possessions that we wish could undo immediately thereafter.

While SIM cards can store phone numbers, this is almost not used any more these days.

Per his second post, I doubt he had the extensive knowledge required to know how to backup his numbers on the SIM card.

Also, I'm guessing he uses CDMA; my guess is Verizon.

Swam with mine once. Took it apart, dried it off, and it worked 90%. The 1,4, and 7 buttons take a little extra oooph to get them to work. I also assumed, after finding it in my pocket, that it was dead and threw it 20 feet onto a concrete deck, where it blew up. It survived that too no probs as well.

How does one do that by the way? It sounds difficult?

I've left my cell phone in front pocket while riding for half a day on my motorcycle in the rain. I went to the local service center and played innocent. They sent the phone off for repair under warranty.

No problem. I was just having a bit of fun. 162 posts...

Anyway: Nice lineup in the sig... What size powerbook you getting 15", 12", or 17"?
You can max it out to 2 gigs of ram, but I'd suggest at least 1 gig.

It depends on what you are going to use it for. 12" powerbook is great for a lot of things, and is quite portable. If you are getting an educational discount, you can get some good money off of the 15" ultra powerbook. 100gb hard drive and 1 gb ram. It's sweet.

Last I checked you could get about $235 off of that model...
thanks for the great sugestions
i think i'll probally upgrade to 1.5gb ram in the 15" that i have
and just wait until apple releases some new pbks, then i'll upgrade to a new one

I didn't understand. You don't show owning a 15" powerbook, only an iBook.
If this is the case, then yeah, up it to 1.5 gb of ram to hold you over. You can't tell though when anything new is coming out, so if you need a new computer, just get it. I've got a 17" 1ghz Powerbook and it should last me at least another year or two.

Glad to help.
